News - New 2012 Honda series in Milan - Wave 110i: the latest

Four novelties that complete the Honda 2012 vintage will be exhibited tomorrow at the EICMA in Milan. As expected, two models take the twin 700 from the Integra (NC700S and NC700X). The Crosstourer and a new Wave are also detailed. Presentation.

Finally, alongside the behemoths VFR1200F and Crosstourer, a mosquito lands at the Milan Motor Show: the Wave, descendant of the illustrious Honda Cub! "Since its launch in 1958, the modest Honda Super Cub has sold several million copies", thus reminds Honda to the French who bought only a handful of these indestructible scooters…

But here it is, it may be that this large-wheeled scooter ends up interesting Europeans: "since the launch of the Super Cub, the world has changed dramatically, but the need for a reliable and economical vehicle remains", analyze the Japanese.

The recipe of the end of the 60s – of the 20th century – would therefore be more up to date than ever: "clean, lively, almost maintenance-free with its 4-stroke engine, practical with its storage space and safe with its disc braking, the Wave 110i 2012 is ready to seduce a new generation of users", valiantly launches the heirs of Soichiro Honda…

For Site however, the Wave will not make waves in France: the country of the scooter with small wheels – OK, "medium" wheels – is not yet ready to adopt the 17 inches of this "novelty", even if the Wave abandons the spoked rims of the Innova for more modern spoke elements.

The same goes for the storage space of only 7.5 liters, the 4-speed gearbox or the final transmission by chain which involve too many "sacrifices" on the part of the busy users of our big cities..

In the entry-level scooter segment, another novelty for 2012 is much better placed to attract French customers: it is the Vision – the replacement for the Lead – already tested and approved by Site (read our).
