News - New 2015 EICMA: Triumph refueling Tiger 800 - Triumph refueling Tiger 800 for 2015

The Tiger 800 of cities (XR) and fields (XC) receive for 2015 multiple retouching, especially electronic. The two Triumph trails are also completed by two high-end ” x ” versions… Presentations.

Triumph refueled with Tiger 800 for 2015

The Hinckley firm has decided to go the extra mile with regard to its mid-capacity trail, since the 2015 version of the road Tiger 800 – now called XR – and its more adventurous XC variation will also be available in XRx and XCx variants….

Common to all four motorcycles, the 799 cc Triple receives a series of modifications aimed at "reduce mechanical noise and reinforce the premium character of the three-cylinder"and incorporates a gearbox control"lighter and more precise"inherited from the sporty Daytona 675.

The engine also benefits – and above all – from the services of a ride-by-wire allowing the arrival of traction control. Like the ABS, the TTC (Triumph Traction Control) will be disconnectable and delivered as standard on the four Tiger 800 2015.

In addition to this electronic update, Triumph ensures that this second generation of little Tigresses is less voracious: "fuel consumption has improved considerably, with a decrease of 17% for a consumption of 4.3 l / 100 km in mixed use (European test cycle GTR2)".

Thus, the Tiger 800 would achieve "a total range of 438 km thanks to the 19-liter tank". Substantial gains acquired without reducing the maximum power of the English mill: the 95 horses are always reached at 9,250 rpm.

The tubular steel chassis of the Tiger 800s does not undergo any change – except for its "titanium" finish – but the English claim to have improved pilot comfort thanks to a new geometry "to reduce stress on the wrists and increase legroom".

The specificities of the road / trail models have been retained: 17-inch spoked rims at the rear and 19 "at the front shod with Pirelli Scorpion Trail on the XR, against 17" rear and 21 "spoked wheels. front, Bridgestone Battlewing tires on the XC.

If the XR retains its Showa suspensions, the XC has new adjustable WP elements: 43 mm inverted fork adjustable for rebound and compression via knobs placed at the top of the tubes, single shock absorber adjustable for preload and rebound.

The owners of the old models will also have noted that the new Tiger adopt a new look. Radiator and tank sides "give the machine more presence and dynamism", describes the manufacturer … But not only!"The shape of the Tiger’s new tank allows the hot air produced by the engine to be deflected", also assures Triumph.

The saddle heights remain flexible: 830 mm or 810 on the XR and 840 or 860 mm on the XC (-5 mm compared to the previous one). For small bikers, Triumph offers low saddles on its motorcycles, also adjustable to two heights (20 mm): at least 790 m on the XR, 820 on the XC.

For bikers with a thicker wallet, the two new XR and XC will be accompanied in spring 2015 by even more successful versions: the Tiger 800 XRx and XCx with, in their program, riding modes allowing the motorcycle to be adapted to its environment..

Based on the XR and XC 2015, the XRx and XCx indeed have additional settings in terms of traction control (Road or Off-road more permissive), engine mapping (softer Rain, Normal, Sport more responsive or Off- road) and ABS (additional Off-road mode which disconnects the rear wheel and reduces interventions on the front wheel).

To simplify the task of the pilot – who must above all concentrate on the road or his path! -, Triumph had the chic idea of establishing three "general" modes integrating these different settings, which can be selected via a simple button.

By selecting the "general" Road mode, the pilot automatically and suddenly adjusts all the assistance systems (TC, ABS, carto) to their own Road modes. The same goes for the Off-road mode. Finally, a third and last programmable mode allows you to configure the bike to your liking.

The XRx and XCx are also fitted as standard with cruise control – "a first in the category", assures us Jean-Luc Mars, Managing Director of Triumph France -, of a more complete on-board computer (journey time, average speed, average and instantaneous consumption and autonomy).

Above the new trim fitted to all 2015 Tiger 800s, there is an adjustable windshield without tools on the "x" versions. They also receive "new hand guards for improved protection". MNC will not fail to verify all these points during our first test at the end of November. !

Announced for spring 2015, the four Tiger 800s will be available in “Crystal” White and “Phatom” Black, while a specific “Caspian” Blue color will be reserved for the XRx and XCx. The prices have not yet been set: if there is an increase, we hope that it will be limited, like that of the weight (+3 kg, or + 1.4%).
