Paris Motor Show - Who are the visitors to the Motorcycle Show? -

During the last Mondial du deux-Roues in Paris, AMC Promotion carried out a survey to better understand its audience. Who are the visitors to the Mondial? What are their expectations ? Which stands do they visit first ? Are they satisfied? Responses.

Three months before the official opening of the 2007 Mondial du deux-Roues (from September 29 to October 8 at Porte de Versailles), Site gives you the main results of the study carried out during the last edition by the organizer, AMC Promotion, to better understand visitors to the Motorcycle Show.

Hall 1 acclaimed

Unsurprisingly, the most visited hall is of course Hall 1, where all the new products presented by the manufacturers are located, as well as this year the Moto-Net Cafe (read): 100% of visitors visited Hall 1 and 65 % Hall 2.2.

The visit to the Mondial du deux-Roues lasts a long time (44% between 3 and 4 hours and 27% more than 5 hours) and most visitors (45%) come "with friends".

The majority come by motorbike (31%), but 29% of visitors are ready to face the formidable traffic jams at Porte de Versailles by car, against 24% who prefer public transport.

71% of visitors own a motorcycle

71% of visitors say they own a motorcycle, 10% a scooter and 4% a quad. The vast majority came to the Motorcycle Show "during a private trip", against only 6% for professional reasons (which is all the same 22,800 people out of the 380,000 visitors of the last edition).

67% of visitors came "see what’s new", 31% for"inquire in general", 26%"for the purchase of a motorbike or scooter", 14%"for the purchase of accessories, equipment or services", 26%"to distract oneself", 8% for"see a specific exhibitor", 5%"for professional reasons"and finally 20%"by habit".

The Japanese Quartet

On the constructors’ side, it was Yamaha which filled up in 2005 with 53% of visitors to its stand. Next are the three other Japanese led by Honda (44%), followed by Suzuki (43%) and Kawasaki (33%). Fourth scratch but first in Europe, BMW welcomed 16% of visitors to its stand. In the absence of Ducati in 2005 (24% in 2003), the German brand is ahead of Harley-Davidson and Triumph (tied at 11%), KTM (9%), Aprilia (6%), Voxan, Buell, MBK and Kymco (4% each).

The vast majority are satisfied with their visit to the Show with 76% of "satisfied"and 18% of"completely satisfied". 5% on the other hand declare themselves"dissatisfied"and 1%"completely dissatisfied", in particular because of the entrance fee (noted 5.2 / 10), parking facilities (5.7 / 10) or test tracks (5.8 / 10).

76% of visitors say they are satisfied

On the other hand, the wait at the counters was considered rather good by visitors with an average score of 8.6 / 10, as was the reception (8/10), the organization of the stands (7.6 / 10), information on the Show (7.1 / 10) and access conditions (7/10).

Thus, 91% of visitors think of visiting the next edition (62% "certainly"and 29%"probably"), against only 9% who do not plan to come back. It should also be noted that 55% of visitors claim that they would come every year if the World Cup took place every year, against 45% who would not come every year.

A provincial employee

The average visitor to the Mondial du deux-Roues is a man (76% in 2005) but there are more and more women (24% in 2005 against 17% in 2003, 10% in 2001 and 13% in 1999).

As for the socio-professional category, the visitor to the Motorcycle Show is essentially "employee or worker"(30% in 2005 against 40% in 1999), but it is also"liberal profession, manager, company director or senior executive"(14%). 12% exercise the profession of"foreman, foreman or team leader", 11% are civil servants, 10%"students", 9%"middle managers", 6%"trader or craftsman", 3%"unemployed ", 2%"retirees"and 1%"housewife".

7% of visitors work "in the motorcycle and cycle sector"including 17% of"garage managers", 17% of"motorcycle mechanics", 15% of"motorcycle dealers"and 10%"apprentices".

Most came from the provinces (49%) against 41% from suburbanites, 8% from Parisians and 2% from abroad. The majority of them practice motorcycles for leisure (38%), 24% use it "in addition to the car", 22%"for all trips", 15%"to go to work", 7%"in sports practice"and only 18% do not practice.
