KTM recalls certain road motorcycles produced since 2015
As expected, and although no cases have been reported on a KTM motorcycle, the Austrian manufacturer is recalling certain road models to replace the piston in the Brembo front brake master cylinder free of charge..
Confirming the information, KTM announces the recall of certain road models produced since 2015 for faulty Brembo front brake master cylinder.
"According to information from the Brembo brand, deviations may have occurred in the manufacture of the pistons of certain radial front brake master cylinders over a defined production period", explains KTM, stressing that "this problem does not only concern the KTM brand since the possibly defective part also affects a number of motorcycles produced by other manufacturers ".

"A crack may appear in the master cylinder piston due to a potential weakness of the material, especially when subjected to very high pressure, such as during track use or with repeated stress on the system. ABS. Therefore, braking efficiency may be reduced and the fault may lead to potential failure of the front brake. Damage to the front brake does not affect the operation of the rear brake in any way, the efficiency of the rear braking remaining maintained in all cases ".
Although no case has been reported on a KTM brand motorcycle, "owners of the models concerned will be personally informed by mail and may contact an authorized KTM distributor to arrange an appointment for the free replacement of the part ", continues the Austrian manufacturer. Owners can also check for themselves whether their motorcycle is affected by the recall by consulting the .
The replacement of the piston of the front master cylinder, which requires "approximately 1h30 of work", must be carried out "by an authorized KTM distributor" and it is of course "a completely free warranty action for the customer".
