BMW Motorrad offers facelift and extensions to its 2021 R1250RT
It is not a radical revolution, nor a simple evolution that BMW Motorrad offers with its R1250RT for the next "Moto GT" season. The German road has a brand new head, very well made. MNC gives you its information, BMW explains everything in video…
Some BMW customers risk having it bad … Six months after presenting its R1250 RT "Exclusive", the German motorcycle manufacturer unveils the new generation of its road! However, the machine is evolving on some important points in 2021…
- 2020 BMW R1250RT Exclusive :
- Duel MNC R1250RT Vs GoldWing :
First observation, obvious: the Germans took out their scalpels and lifted their "top" model. "The new front end of the BMW R 1250 RT not only offers a modernized and more dynamic design, but also first-class handling qualities thanks to optimized aerodynamics", they assure.
According to BMW, this new headliner (MNC duel poster, stay tuned!) Benefits from a fairing "refined in height which gives the pilot a wider field of vision". "Auf wiedersehen" therefore the owl face inherited from the K1600GT / L in 2014, and "wilkomen" the more robotic aspect of the 2021 model … "More Honda", dares MNC !
Le Journal moto du Net indeed sees in this new face "Behème" the combination of the stretched headlights of the last Goldwing 1800 on the one hand, and of the vertical element mounted – not very long … – on the strange face of the Vultus on the other. End of this Tokyo parenthesis.
A new face among truck drivers
In addition to this stylistic development, the R1250RT 2021 receives – as standard "bitte schon" – new adaptive LED lighting: "the low beams rotate and light up the bend according to the inclination of the motorcycle", remind the engineers Germans who also deeply and sensibly updated the dashboard…
The German reference indeed exchanges its old set combining analogue meters and central window (already in color, but reduced) against a new color TFT panel measuring 26 centimeters diagonally, to make the fierce competition of the "Moto GT" as well as its own pale. sisters K1600 and R1250GS !
"For the first time on a motorcycle, the new 10.25-inch color display allows a navigation map to be displayed in the instrument cluster, so that no additional display is needed", adds BMW Motorrad particularly and logically proud of its novelty.
Another asset that will appeal to bikers "geeks" ready to spend without counting: "advanced connectivity with induction charging and USB port in the right storage compartment of the cockpit", are offered as an option, as are the driving modes " Pro "which incorporate dynamic engine brake control (MSR) which" can be useful for getting out of unstable driving conditions such as during a sudden downshift ".

- MNC details :
Unveiled in July, active cruise control is also an option on the latest R1250RT. As a reminder, the AAC automatically regulates the speed defined by the pilot and the distance from the vehicle in front (3 selectable distances). By default, Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) simply maintains a pre-selected speed, activating the brakes as needed (downhill).
When it comes to braking, the new R1250RT retains the material of the previous model but benefits from the ABS Full Integral Pro system as standard. "Combined with the qualities of ABS Pro which optimizes and distributes the braking force according to the inclination of the motorcycle, the ABS Full Integral Pro simultaneously applies the front and rear brakes, whether the rider actuates the lever or the pedal ", specifies BMW.
Also preserved, the boxer with ShiftCam cube technology still 1254 cc (102.5 x 76 mm) and still develops 136 horsepower and 143 newton-meters, and must be able to move the beast of 279 kilograms fully loaded at more than 200 km / h . All this while meeting the new Euro5 homologation standard.
A new "Eco" driving mode should encourage the driver "to adopt a more efficient driving style" than that adopted by selecting the two other "Road" or "Rain" modes supplied as standard … or than the "Dynamic" modes "and" Dynamic Pro "optional !
Already available to order in France "from 22,490 euros" in its standard color White "Alpin 3", the BMW R 1250 RT also requires price extensions to switch to an "Elegance" dress (+435 euros), a "Sport" outfit (+610 euros despite the shorter bubble) or a "stock" – "Option 719" (+1870 euros).
