First photos and info on the 2018 Honda Goldwing and Bagger ?
Possible "stolen" photos of the new Goldwing 2018 are circulating, relayed by professionals very concerned by everything related to the Gold … Is this the first information on the eagerly awaited new version of the ultra road bike of the winged crest, after the teasing video just posted by Honda ? Explanations.
Impossible for the moment to determine if these photos seen on the Twitter account of the motorcycle-taxi network are real or if they are montages like the web loves them … These images however have the appearance of those of a press kit, which prompts MNC to take a closer look! We discover a Goldwing seriously refreshed in terms of look, which adopts as expected an electric windshield and a complete and modern multimedia console.

This instrumentation has two analog dials indicating the speed and engine speed and three screens on a blue background, one of which is large in the center. The readable information indicates that the "Gold 2018" would offer several driving modes (here the "Tour" mode would be engaged) and very probably a piloted suspension system, as suggested by the pictogram showing a person seated at the bottom of the screen at right.
The installation also includes a sound system – undoubtedly connectable via Bluetooth to a smartphone – as well as handles and heated seats which are controlled from the central paddle. This is surmounted by an imposing notched wheel which should allow navigation through the various functions. A cruise control control is also visible on the right stalk, near the warning lights.
The commodos clad with buttons confirm the presence of a double clutch box to assist the engine, which remains flat six-cylinder type. The hypothetical option of a hybrid propulsion (gasoline and electric), suggested by certain Japanese motorcycle media, does not seem to be retained. On the other hand, there is no doubt that this tasty block – which currently cubes 1832cc – meets the standards in force (Euro4) and is even preparing for the future Euro5 standards applicable by 2020 !
- MNC retrospective :
The presence of an unconventional front axle, which is based on side members and a central spring – a system visually similar to the BMW Duolever – would on the other hand be validated from the photo of the undressed motorcycle! This is a first in the long saga of the "Golden Wing", the first version of which dates back to 1975 (at the time in the form of the GL1000 with a 4-cylinder 999cc).
This view reveals radiators placed in a lateral position, undoubtedly to save space for the front axle, which is larger than a traditional fork. Six-piston radial calipers and full LED front and rear lighting are also visible in these possible photos of the 2018 Goldwing.
According to these images – to be taken with caution at this stage – a bagger version of the 2018 Goldwing has already been developed. MNC is investigating to verify the official character of these photos, which suggest a palette of colors ranging from red to blue to gray … Stay tuned !
