Road safety - Confined with ... Pierre Chasseray, general delegate of 40 million motorists -

What are the main players in the motorcycle world doing during the lockdown linked to the Covid-19 pandemic? Pierre Chasseray, general delegate of the 40 million motorists association which fights with the FFMC against road repression, confided in the Journal moto du Net.

MNC: Where are you confined ?

Pierre Chasseray : I am confined to my house in the provinces, in a small village between Sarthe and Eure-et-Loir, with my darling and my three children aged 11, 10 and 6 months.

MNC: How are your days going? ?

P. C. : My typical day is waking up with a bottle at around 7:30 a.m. then I get to work on a big file, in particular the state of our French roads and our particularly worrying bridges, while following, with my partner, the schooling of my children who are in 6th and CM1. Then the good weather allows us some nice barbecues. The afternoon oscillates between work, DIY (I finish the housework) and family games. In the evening, we sometimes open a pretty bottle from our cellar or watch movies with the children. And then a few rituals took place … Friday, for example, is Koh-Lanta! On Saturday, it’s a "homemade pizza" dinner with music because we dine on the coffee table in the living room and we take pleasure in rediscovering mythical pieces and showing them to the children. We prepare the "impasto", the pizza dough, in the morning and we feast in the evening. It feels a bit like going out…

MNC: What do you miss the most ?

P. C. : What I miss the most is not going to be original, but it’s my family and everyone I love. Whether it’s my family, my Parisian meals with my friend Jean-Baptiste Iosca (editor’s note), my evenings with my "pillar" friend Karl, my team of 40 million motorists who I miss, my evenings with my neighbors Virginie, Philippe and their daughter who plays with my children, bike trips with my children, a little weekend at the sea with a few small sardines and seafood … For a bon vivant like me, staying locked up is necessarily complicated ! The one I miss very, very much is Jean-Louis Filippini, my vice-president of 40 million motorists who left the coronavirus a few days ago … I still can’t get over it. I really liked him. This disease is hell, a constant threat to the people we love. What I miss the least is undoubtedly public transport in Paris! Being confined like a Ninja turtle in the subway … I really am someone who loves space, tranquility. So obviously, I don’t miss the armored metro. The traffic jams either…

MNC: Are you afraid ?

P. C. : I do not want to sink into fear of Covid-19. On the contrary, I want to maintain confidence. I believe in medicine, I believe in research. On the other hand, I fear for the most fragile. Our parents, our children. In fact, I fear more for those I love than for myself. When you have three children and a wife that you love, they have to come before you. I fear for my parents too. So I’m the one who does the shopping. And then I fear the weather. I’m afraid the afterlife will lose the carelessness of our former lives … So I hope. By telling myself that I am one of the privileged, of those who have a family, a garden, children and happiness in the house. Finally, I realize that I am happy.

MNC: A book, a film, a series, a record to recommend ?

P. C. : I love Italian culture. From football to architecture, painting and food, I’m a fan. Then I would recommend the book "Ocean Mer", translated from Italian Alessandro Baricco. It is superb. And then there is also Albert Camus. This is the complete one, but I have a preference for "La Chute". Then, in the series, we finished the "Friends" saga with my darling and we are currently in "Breaking Bad". I am a fan! Then we programmed "Lost". As a film, I will say "Le Mans 66" for those who missed its cinema release. It’s extraordinary ! On record it’s going to be complicated, I never knew how to choose … A good live from Clapton with some Eurythmics songs, a good "In the air tonight" by Phil Collins with some guitar riffs from Prince are perfect for accompany Saturday pizzas! Do not forget either the live at Bataclan de Sting, which is a marvel. And then a bit of Jean-Jacques Goldman. It always takes a bit of Goldman…

MNC: Your Favorite Motorcycle Video ?

P. C. : The motorcycle video that comes to mind is an amazing series that I have loved since I was little, "Mechanical Tonnerre"! Jessie Mach and her mate Norman on Honda cars launched at 500 km / h … Enough to make our Home Secretary pale !

MNC: The first thing you will do at the end of the lockdown ?

P. C. : Since deconfinement is likely to be gradual, I feel like the first thing I’m going to do is take my son to college and my daughter to school. Then find part of my team … And go and say a last goodbye to Jean-Louis Filippini. Then there will be life. Happiness. Why not go to the sea for a few days with my darling and my children. I have already chosen. It will be a small creperie in Saint-Malo, "Le Tournesol". After confinement, we’ll all need some fresh air. To regain mobility. And our cars, our motorcycles will allow us to once again become the link between us and what we love, and also those we love.
