Following the, campaigning with Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet (UMP) for the municipal elections in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, it is Jean-Robert Lopez who will succeed him as interministerial delegate for road safety from April 7, announces the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety (DSCR).
Born on June 4, 1952 in Philippeville (Algeria), Mr. Lopez, prefect of the Territoire de Belfort since August 2012, is a knight of the National Order of Merit and was promoted to officer of the Legion of Honor at the start of the year. Close to the Socialist Party (PS), he was appointed yesterday in the Council of Ministers on a proposal from the Ministry of the Interior to succeed the, close to Nicolas Sarkozy (UMP).
Holder of a master’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in public law, Jean-Robert Lopez began his career in 1977 as a treasury inspector before being appointed 2nd class sub-prefect and director of the office of the prefect of the ‘Ariège in January 1989, then director of the office of the Prefect of Savoy in August 1990.
Tenured sub-prefect in 1992, he was appointed sub-prefect of Molsheim (67) and in charge of town policy with the prefect of the Alsace region. Two years later he became secretary general of the Hautes-Pyrenees prefecture, then in 1996 head of the state organization office and head of the decentralization office (mobility).
Appointed 1st class civil administrator in January 1998, he became head of the civil cabinet of the Minister of Defense with Alain Richard (PS) and was integrated as civil administrator in January 1999. One year later he was promoted to senior civil administrator and became Deputy Secretary General of the City of Paris in June 2001, before being appointed Inspector General of the City of Paris in June 2006 to Bertrand Delanoë (PS).
In September 2008 he was reinstated as civil administrator, assigned to the general secretariat of the Ministry of the Interior under Michèle Alliot-Marie (UMP), and in March 2009 became "project director (group I) with the general secretary to steer, lead and coordinate the action carried out by the ministry under the general review of public policies (in short: reduce costs at the Ministry of the Interior, Editor’s note) ", specifies his official CV.
