Road safety - La Mutuelle des Motards against lighting fires during the day -

La Mutuelle des Motards, a militant insurer even if the expression is already taken by one of its colleagues, takes a stand against the lighting of fires during the day by all vehicles and supports the FFMC demonstrations planned this weekend throughout France.

While the campaign to recommend to all road users to turn on their dipped beam headlights during the day outside the city begins tomorrow, the Mutual Insurance of Motards (AMDM) disapproves of this measure which it considers "contrary to the interests of motorcyclists and their safety".

With this in mind, the Mutual supports the French Federation of Angry Bikers (FFMC) during the events organized this weekend in several cities in France (see).

Objective: the withdrawal of this measure which would entail "a loss of visibility of vehicles of reduced gauge while it is necessary to mark the specificity of motorized two-wheelers in an automotive environment", recalls the Mutual, which fears that motorcyclists meet again"drowned in a tide of headlights on".

A simple observation of common sense that does not seem to share the Minister of Transport Gilles de Robien, who affirms without fear of ridicule that "this measure also protects bikers because they will see the cars better"(read).

According to Patrick Jacquot, CEO of the Mutual, it comes down to "sacrifice the million motorcyclists in the face of 35 million motorists: the lives that would be saved in this way among motorists would not be lost by the bikers ?", he wonders before specifying that this reasoning may ultimately prove to be hazardous, because"the densification of traffic in urban areas, the B / 125 permit equivalence and the development of the manufacturer’s offer are turning more and more people into "multimodal users" and therefore also into bikers, as evidenced by the strong development of our "duo" contracts (motorcycle and car contract)"…
