Motorcycle license: A2 compulsory for all future bikers !

New regulatory sledgehammer for the motorcycle sector, in particular that of motorcycle schools: direct access from 24 years to the motorcycle license A disappears! It is now mandatory to pass the A2 license limited to 47.5 hp (35 kW) for two years, before being able to follow a paid seven-hour training course. And this, whatever his age, like !
If this measure had been planned since, the professionals of the sector hoped for a little respite before its effective arrival, expected by some for next year (2017)….
In the end, this will not be the case: the, applicable from June 1 (2016, yes!), Formalizes the abolition of the "passage of the practical test of category A of the driving license by conditioning the possibility of driving a motorcycle. ‘a power greater than 35 kW for additional training which can only be followed at the end of a period of two years after obtaining the category A2 driving license ".
Entry into force on June 1, 2016 !
Consequently, first-time buyers, whatever their age, will no longer be able to get on a motorcycle by directly passing the A license (large displacement, without power limitation). Even a future 40 or 50 year old biker will have to start with the A2 license, then learn on a 47.5 hp motorcycle for two years..
To this constraint, which risks cooling off a certain number of experienced (auto) drivers, will then be added the annoyance of having to follow the compulsory seven-hour training course at the end of the two-year probationary period. A doubly restrictive training since time-consuming and paying !
For school motorcycles, it is undoubtedly fewer applications, while manufacturers will also record a slight drop in sales. Admittedly, this step may seem sensible: while a 50-year-old beginner is certainly more composed and cautious than at 20, his lack of experience is just as important. Placing it on a high-power motorcycle from its first laps of the wheels is therefore not necessarily ideal, especially as the 106 hp clamping does not exist – fortunately – anymore. Could it be for this reason that the government hastened to impose A2 for all ?
New stick in the wheels
However, the motorcycle sector did not need to be thrown in this new stick … The seven-hour training for the 125 (at the origin of one in this category) and the license reform motorcycle with the placement of the A2 had already caused enough damage like this. No ?
The life of the French biker never ceases to become more complicated: afterwards, here comes dawn – not so – old … The is also looming, while still. And we can expect their set-ups to be !
To allow motorcycles schools to more easily absorb this new thorn in their boot, the State grants them gracefully "on a transitional basis", a period of six months to change their fleet of motorcycles. Until December 31, 2016, training establishments may "use category A vehicles to provide the training necessary to obtain category A2".
Finally, little consolation, during the next six months candidates who applied before the publication of this decree will be able to access the A license, provided they are over 24 years old as required by the previous regulations. Still happy !
