20 to 25% of flashes in France are foreign drivers !
According to Road Safety, "20 to 25%" of the flashes emitted by some 2,190 fixed speed cameras recorded in France to date concern foreign drivers. And this, although they represent only "5%" of the traffic !
This means that a quarter of speeding offenses remain unpaid, since the National Agency for the Automated Processing of Infractions (ANTAI) located in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine) is not able to forward the tickets. outside France …

This type of bilateral agreement is already in force between France, Switzerland and Luxembourg, and has just been extended to Belgium since the beginning of July. Discussions are underway to quickly apply this principle to Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. But also in Germany, whose drivers occupy the first place of foreigners flashed in France, with between 500,000 and one million infractions recorded by the tricolor radars! And the famous Germanic rigor, then ?
The operation of this cooperation is simple, not to say childish: it suffices to establish a connection between the French automated processing center and its European counterparts for an offender from outside the country in which he was flashed. be identified, then sanctioned.
The immunity enjoyed by foreign drivers in the face of French automatic radars is thus gradually disappearing. But beware: Site reminds its readers that the converse is just as valid! So watch out, during your next trips across Europe …
