The yellow vest on a motorcycle tries the blow of the breakdown !

Two new proposals were examined by the National Road Safety Council (CNSR) at its last meeting on April 15: standardize the size of license plates for two and three-wheelers and generalize detention – without obligation to wear – a high visibility vest for motorbikes and scooters.
Regarding the format of the plates, the proposal obviously aims to track down too small models that escape relentlessness the vigilance of slot machines automatic speed cameras. The CNSR therefore proposes to standardize the size of the plate for all motorized two and three-wheelers in the "existing format of 210 by 130 mm".
According to Patrick Jacquot, president of the and of the Mutuelle des Motards, "the government and the president of the CNSR wanted a simplification […]. It is an administrative issue rather than road safety". Some would say that it is rather an "economic" issue …
The return of the yellow vest revenge ?
Finally, the CNSR again took an interest in the issue of the yellow vest on a motorcycle, a thorny issue that the Minister of the Interior, Manuel Valls, cautiously put aside this winter following the mobilization of bikers and associations of two-wheelers (read in particular).
However, the measure studied differs significantly from previous proposals aimed at making it compulsory to wear retro-reflective equipment while driving: the CNSR proposes to put two and three-wheeled users on the same footing as motorists, by asking them to to slip a yellow vest under the saddle of their motorcycle or in the trunk of their scooter to improve their visibility in the event of a breakdown.
The advisory body to the government clearly insists on the fact that it is not a question of imposing the wearing of the vest when traveling: "the yellow vest does not come back through the window after leaving the door, it it is not a question of imposing one’s wearing while driving ", explains Patrick Jacquot, specifying that the extension to motorcyclists of this measure imposed on motorists for four years still needs to be" evaluated ".
The FFMC opposed to the "Gi-laid"
Although this proposal (the non-respect of which currently costs motorists € 135!) Does not require the wearing of a life jacket in all circumstances, the Federation of Angry Bikers (FFMC) has already announced his opposition.
She first asked the Road Safety and Traffic Directorate (DSCR) to tell her "the number of deaths avoided following the application of this measure to motorists". A question that is difficult to answer, since the drivers for whom the yellow vest may have been used do not necessarily make themselves known…
The Federation is also waiting for the DSCR to send it "the number of disabled motorcyclists killed each year", in order to determine the interest of requiring them to have a yellow vest. "The FFMC still considers that the choice to transport, and a fortiori to put on, high visibility clothing must remain a personal approach, and in no case be subject to obligation", concludes the association for the defense of bikers about this equipment which she renamed not without humor "gi-laid"…
