Kawasaki Z H2 SE: the always compressed, more sophisticated roadster
Launched – catapulted! – this year in the Kawasaki dealerships, the Z H2 roadster is joined in 2021 by an SE version equipped with Showa electronic suspensions (KECS) and Brembo Stylema brake calipers from the Ninja. What better way to master the supercharged 4-cylinder engine with 200 hp and 137 Nm? Presentation and video.
The Kawasaki roadster family welcomed in 2020 a very turbulent new member: the Z H2 which has, as its suffix suggests, the supercharged engine and a bit of the tempestuous Ninja H2. For the record and for fun, MNC had the chance to, in particular…
Site readers – who, as everyone knows, have a little more RAM than others – remember the strengths of this extraordinary motorcycle: sensational and docile engine (ready for Euro5), rather easy handling, affordable price for an H2.

Impartial, the Journal moto du Net had also noted weak points: weight when stationary and on the brakes too sensitive, lack of rigor in the attack (especially compared to other lighter maxiroadsters, precisely), the two colors dark and the look (subjective …).
In just a few months, Kawa was naturally unable to correct these points. weak "future improvement". With its more sophisticated equipment, however, the second "SE" version expected next January in dealerships, could well erase some faults…
By equipping their "roadzter" with electronic suspensions, Akashi’s engineers certainly weigh down the beast by a small kilogram (or 240 kg all full) but in doing so, they offer it the opportunity to hide a little of its overweight, like the convincing Versys 1000 SX SE.
The 43mm SFF-CA (cartridge) fork and BFRC lite rear shock supplied by Showa feature Skyhook technology, a "hook from the sky" therefore, which would relieve the wheels of some of the weight of the machine by playing independently on the hydraulics of the two suspensions.
The objective is as clear as it is interesting: to limit the movements of the Z H2 to acceleration and braking, on bumpy roads or cobbled alleys. With a Rain mode, this semi-active suspension device (KECS) is linked to traction-control and engine modes, via driving modes (Sport, Road or Rain).
The “top of the range” SE model is also distinguished by adopting Stylema calipers that are more compact and more efficient than the M4.32 models of the “base” model, and are controlled by a radial master cylinder by means of reinforced hoses. Power and endurance especially, should be on the rise.
The invoice for the SE will also and logically be higher than that required for a Z H2 "short" currently displayed at 17,099 euros on the official site: "the price of the Z H2 SE 2021 will be above 20,000 euros" , predicts Kawasaki France. Only one color will be offered, mixing Black "Diablo" with Green "Golden Blazed", a little more colorful than the black with green frame of the Z H2, better to match the exuberant character of the beast, no ?
