However, the Munich brand is aware that it needs to further develop its offer to build legitimacy in the scooter niche..
This role falls to the new C 400 X, a new mid-size scooter assembled in China by local manufacturer Loncin. Questioned by MNC, BMW Motorrad France explains that it is "developed entirely by BMW and then built in China by Loncin according to the requirements and specifications of BMW Motorrad".
This new partnership brings to three the "Asian" collaborations of the German brand, which already manufactures its C650 scooters with the Taiwanese Kymco and its single-cylinder motorcycles and with the Indian TVS.
The lines of this C 400 X display the BMW "leg" at the level of the LED headlight with the asymmetrical profile which refers to the, or even to the indicators in the form of LED rows which evoke the .
Mounted on a jack, the saddle opens onto a variable-volume trunk thanks to the Flexcase introduced on the C650: thanks to this clever system, a full-face helmet can be placed in a kind of reinforced pocket which unfolds only when stationary.
A second helmet, jet or semi-jet type, can enter this illuminated trunk surrounded by two grab handles for the passenger. Always practical, we note the presence of a central stand as standard and two storage spaces in the apron, with 12V socket and optional USB adapter. Traction control takes place as standard, while braking is based on 4-piston "Bybre" calipers, the Indian subsidiary of Brembo.
Still as an option, the C 400 X can receive a luggage rack (!) And a 6.5-inch color TFT matrix instrumentation, the information of which scrolls from the handlebars via the Multi-controler wheel in force on BMW road cars. This optional dashboard can be connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth.
The engine develops 34 hp and 35 Nm at the rear wheel via a CVT variator, while the cycle part is articulated around a tubular steel frame, a non-adjustable 35 mm telescopic fork and two combined shock absorbers at the rear. rear, the preload of which can be adjusted. Pirelli tires fit the 15 and 14 inch wheels.
Its arrival on the market is scheduled for spring 2018 at a price that remains to be discovered: stay tuned !
