New Honda SH Mode 125 and SH350 scooters: big wheels, big ambitions
Honda is evolving its large-wheeled scooters SH125 and SH350 with more practical aspects, a larger trunk and an engine to Euro5 standards for 2021. Presentations.
SH Mode 125: more fashionable for 2021
The new skin to meet the "aspirations of the young generation", warns Honda which even announces a "wind of renewal" for this model launched in 2001 very popular with Italian scooters (less in France, where the large wheels format struggles to seduce despite the arguments of comfort and the flat floor).
This development primarily affects the engine of this scooter accessible to A1 and B licenses (car with training): the 124.5 cc single-cylinder engine goes up to Euro5 standards thanks to a lot of work on friction, intake and exhaust . This water-cooled engine also shuts off automatically after three seconds at idle speed via the Idling Stop system..

The manufacturer proudly announces a consumption of only "2 l per 100 km", or "almost 275 km" with the full 5.5 l (!) Contained by the tiny tank (7 liters in 2020). MNC also notes that this cleaner engine is also less powerful with 11.4 hp (8.4 kW) against 13 hp (9.6 kW) last year. The torque, it progresses slightly to 12.1 Nm (+ 0.1 Nm).
The SH Mode 125 also receives a glove box with USB socket on the left of its apron, while its trunk takes up half a liter of capacity (18.5 l). Finally, the "Smart-key" keyless start makes its appearance on this 118 kg scooter, also equipped with new aluminum rims in 80/90/19 and 100/90/16.
This Honda innovation will be available in red, white, gray or black, at a price unknown to date. An increase from 200 to 400 euros seems quite likely compared to the 3,749 euros requested in 2020.
SH350: the advantages of the Forza 350
The becomes SH350 via the new single-cylinder, going from 279 cc to 330 cc without "additional weight" according to Honda. This significant increase in displacement (51 cc: the equivalent of a moped!) Causes an interesting gain in performance: 29.3 hp and 32 Nm instead of 25.2 hp and 25.5 Nm in 2020.
The improvement results in a 0 to 200 m shot in "10.2 sec", or "0.7 sec" faster than before. What justifies the presence of the deactivatable traction control! Other advantages of this new unit: it meets Euro5 standards and claims a consumption of "3.33 l / 100 km" or about 270 km of autonomy with the full 9.1 l.
