Faced with the coronavirus, prefer motorbike travel !

While all outings outside his home must be justified via a sworn statement due to the confinement that affects France for at least two weeks from this Tuesday, March 17, MNC suggests giving priority to motorbike travel for limit the spread of the coronavirus. Why ? Explanations.

This is a first in France in peacetime: all residents are called to stay at home "from Tuesday March 17 at 12 noon for a minimum of two weeks", following the speech of the President of the Republic who repeated no less than six times the country was "at war" against the coronavirus. 

• MNC of March 16, 2020 :

This containment measure – adopted by Italy at the start of the month – aims to "reduce contact and travel to the strict minimum throughout the country", and therefore limit the spread of Covid-19. Because no, the epidemic neither stopped nor slowed down during the first round of the municipal elections….

Still, all travel is not prohibited but strictly restricted to the official reasons below. Each exit from his home must also be justified via a "derogatory travel certificate" to be downloaded on the and to be presented to the police in the event of an inspection. Failure to comply with these rules results in a fine of 38 euros which could quickly increase to 135 euros.

Among the authorized cases are professional travel when "teleworking is not possible", medical appointments, essential purchases, travel related to childcare or assistance to vulnerable people ( elderly parents, in particular) or even going out for physical exercise, alone and around home.

The right time to have the motorcycle virus ?!

To further combat the spread of the virus, MNC suggests all bikers and scooter riders in France to opt for their two-wheelers to ensure their essential trips. Why ? Because getting around and parking on a motorcycle or scooter is faster … and you wear a helmet !

However, the shorter your trip, the less you will be exposed to possible contamination and the less you will expose others. In addition, if a helmet – even full-face – certainly does not constitute an insurmountable barrier for the virus, it still limits the diffusion in the event of a sneeze.. 

Always taken, knowing that the coronavirus is transmitted mainly by "postilions (sneezing, cough) and contact with unwashed hands", recalls the government. It is for this reason that "direct contacts within one meter" are prohibited.

In conclusion: if you have to move in the next 15 days, go out on a motorcycle or scooter !

• Travel between home and the place of exercise of professional activity, when they are essential for the exercise of activities that cannot be organized in the form of telework (on permanent proof) or professional trips that cannot be postponed 
• Travel to make essential purchases in authorized establishments (list on Gouvernement.fr)
• Travel for health reasons
• Travel for compelling family reasons, for assistance to vulnerable people or childcare
• Short trips, close to home, related to the individual physical activity of people, the exclusion of any collective sporting activity, and the needs of pets
