Motorcycle endurance: FCC TSR Honda wins at the 2011 Suzuka 8H
The FCC TSR Honda team (Kosuke Akiyoshi, Shinichi Ito and Ryuichi Kiyonari) won Sunday during the 34th edition of the Suzuka 8 Hours in front of the Yoshimura Suzuki Racing Team (Yukio Kagayama, Josh Waters and Nobuatsu Aoki) and the Honda Musashi RT Harc Pro (Takumi Takahashi, Makoto Tamada and Tadayuki Okada).
The FCC TSR Honda team (Kosuke Akiyoshi, Shinichi Ito and Ryuichi Kiyonari) won on Sunday in front of the Yoshimura Suzuki Racing Team (Yukio Kagayama, Josh Waters and Nobuatsu Aoki) and the Honda Musashi RT Harc Pro (Takumi Takahashi, Makoto Tamada and Tadayuki Okada).
Author of the pole position on the Yoshimura Suzuki Racing Team, the Japanese Yukio Kagayama and his compatriot Takumi Takahashi (Honda Musashi RT Harc Pro) thrilled the public for a good part of the event, then imitated by a Ryuichi Kiyonari (FCC TSR Honda) revenge following his departure from the track at the start of the race.
"After my crash early in the race, I felt I had to do everything possible to secure the victory for my team," said Ryuichi Kiyonari..
The former Honda Ten Kate rider in WSBK and his teammates thus managed to gain a slight advantage over the crew of the Suz ‘Yoshimura who finished less than 40 seconds from the CBR1000RR n ° 11.
"The FCC TSR Honda team was really very fast and efficient … And Ryuichi Kiyonari gave me no chance to close the gap at the end of the race," admitted Yukio Kagayama.
For the French teams, the BMW Motorrad France 99 (Sebastien Gimbert, Erwan Nigon and Damian Cudlin) finished at the foot of the podium five laps behind the leaders. A performance that allows the S1000RR n ° 99 to dislodge the GSX-R 1000 of the SERT (Suzuki Endurance Racing Team) from the lead of the provisional classification of the championship.
Qualified at a distant 15th position on the grid, Dominique Melliand’s men had an extremely delicate Japanese meeting: penalized by a concern with the ignition box, then with the injection and finally a breakage of the footrest plate, the SERT finished ninth and is now six points behind the BMW France team.
Delayed by a pit stop following a big square from Matthieu Lagrive, the GMT94 Yamaha then had a good second part of the race and crossed the finish line in 7th place. Third in the provisional classification, Christophe Guyot’s structure grabs a few points at the SERT before the next race which will take place at Le Mans.
Engaged in Suzuka with the Japanese team RS Itoh Asia, the Bolliger Team Switzerland finished in 38th position, after being delayed by a radiator problem then by a collision with Shinichi Ito, race leader on the FCC TSR Honda.
Promised to have a good race after starting from second on the grid, the YART Yamaha retired shortly before halfway due to an oil leak.
The Honda TT Legends also had a shortened weekend: the English team retired due to a problem with the rear wheel of the CBR1000RR at the start of the event..
The next meeting of the World Endurance Championship will take place in France, on September 24th and 25th, during the 2011 24 Hours of Le Mans.
