David Checa absent from the first two rounds
Big disappointment for David Checa: suffering from a broken wrist, the Spanish driver of the French team GMT 94 will not be able to start the first two rounds of the World Supersport, scheduled for February 25 in Qatar and March 5 in Australia.
Victim of a fall Wednesday during testing with his Yamaha R1 endurance on the Albacete circuit in anticipation of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Bol d’Or, David Checa will not be able to start the first two races of the Mondial Supersport scheduled for February 25 in Qatar and March 5 in Australia (read).
The Spanish driver of the French team GMT 94 is "very disappointed", specifies Christophe Guyot, his team manager:"he can’t understand how he lost control of his machine, but he keeps his mind of steel. He knows that even if he has to miss a few races, he will still have plenty of opportunities to show how competitive he can be with GMT during the season.".
David will, however, take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on April 22 and 23 on the GMT R1 (read), but it will be necessary to wait until Monza on May 7 to see him racing for the first time on the R6..
In the meantime, it is the Australian Anthony Gobert who will take the handlebars of the GMT Yamaha for the first two events in Qatar (February 25) and Australia (March 5). "GP rider, multiple winner of Superbike World Championship rounds, Yamaha rider in the American Championship, Anthony Gobert is very motivated to make his comeback on the international scene", specifies the GMT.
Anthony, whose bike will be number 49, will also be celebrating his 31st birthday on Australian race day. The entire Moto-Net team wishes David a speedy recovery … ¡Ánimo hombre !
