The resumption of the 2020 World Superbike rescheduled in early July
Started at the end of February in Australia, the 2020 Superbike World Championship was due to resume in a month in Imola. Unfortunately, the Italian event has just been canceled and the next two meetings (Aragon and Misano) are postponed until later… So much later. Explanations.
The 2020 World Superbike season started off with a bang on the beautiful Phillip Island circuit in Australia. But at the same time on the other side of the world also, in China, the Coronavirus was also beginning its macabre world tour…
Since then, the Superbike riders (long live Loris Baz!) And Supersport (go Jules Cluzel, Lucas Mahias, Corentin Perolari and Andy Verdoïa!) Have been forced to #StayChezEux and are longing to get back on their motorcycles. Unfortunately, unfortunately, the next three rounds planned in Italy and Spain will not take place.

Yesterday, the resumption of WorldSBK was – officially – scheduled for the weekend of May 8-10 in Imola, near Bologna (Italy). However, the situation in the Emilia-Romagna region does not allow us to consider the holding of this meeting awaited with a firm boot by all Ducati fans … neither in May, nor later in the year.
"There is a deep bitterness about this painful decision, and I say it not only as president of the company that manages the circuit, but above all as a great motorsport enthusiast who each year awaits the Imola event. with the enthusiasm of a child ", says Uberto Selvatico Estense.
The executive director of the sports and organization departments of the Dorna, Gregorio Lavilla, shares this disappointment, but "given the already complex schedule planned today and the weather situation that we could be facing later in the year, we agreed with the circuit that it was better to cancel the meeting this year ".
The readers of Site – who, as everyone knows, have a little more RAM than the others – remember that in May 2019 already, on Sunday afternoon … Imola will be back in 2021, it is promised.
The World Superbike will not restart either in Aragon on May 22-24, nor in Misano on June 12-14 … These two meetings could be rescheduled: August 28-30 for the first and the 6-8 November for the second.
No doubt disappointed to see their first event wiped off the calendar – and badly tested by the Covid-19, above all – "Italian supporters will now be able to attend the grand final of the 2020 season, since the Misano circuit will host the last round of the season in November ".
To date and until further notice, the 2020 World Superbike season should therefore resume on July 3-5 at the Donington Park circuit in England. The show could be beautiful there because of the sublime layout and the strong British contingent, ready to do anything to shine on its land … Stay connected … and #RestezChez Vous !
