Author of the double yesterday in and this morning in, Tom Sykes and Loris Baz held their own against the bubbling Marco Melandri this afternoon. After the victory of, the Greens are full of Aragon…

Second round Superbike

Tom Sykes starts ahead of Loris Baz, Jonathan Rea, Davide Giugliano, Marco Melandri, Sylvain Guintoli, Chaz Davies, Toni Elias, Leon Haslam, Alex Lowes, Eugene Laverty, Leon Camier, etc. The most active at the very start of the race is "Chazie" who hoists his Ducati in front of the two official Aprilia and sets off to chase his teammate Giugliano.

From the second lap, Alex Lowes was taken aback by his Suzuki. The highside is not very ample but is enough to definitively end this Spanish event for the 2013 British Superbike champion … His teammate Laverty is doing better, overtaking Elias for the gain of ninth place.

In front, the "Green Giant" does not yield more than half a second to "Major Tom". Johnny Rea’s CBR n ° 65 and Davide Giugliano’s Panigale n ° 34 always follow … and the two RSV4 n ° 33 and 50 since the Ducati n ° 7 of Davies is out of the race! As in Superpole yesterday, the Welshman asked too much of his front end…

At the end of the fifth lap, the six leading bikes already have a five-second lead over Laverty who tries to get rid of Haslam and Elias. Four seconds later, Camier fought against Canepa, Salom and Corti for the first place of Evo. Guarnoni occupies the 14th place, Foret the 20th.

At the forefront, Melandri leaped onto Giugliano’s fourth place by diving inside the Ducati on the first corner of the 7th lap. The two Italians are a good second away from the Irish Rea who fails to catch up with Baz.

In the viewfinder of our "Bazooka" is precisely Tom Sykes: the n ° 1 is the only one of the top pilots to have kept the hard tire – selected by the majority of the pilots this morning – for this second round and seems to slow down – to delay ? – as the halfway mark approaches…

With almost two seconds of the two official Kawa ‘now, Johnny Rea can not long counter the attacks of Marco Melandri. Sylvain Guintoli is in ambush, a few lengths from his teammate and quickly joins the Fireblade of "JR".

Loris Baz is not leaving Tom Sykes with one sole: the Frenchman seems perfectly at ease and remains wisely behind his teammate. Jeremy Guarnoni, great friend of n ° 76, is much less happy: he falls in the 10th lap.

On restraint at the start of the race, the two factory Aprilia raise the tone at the end: Marco Melandri gets dangerously close to the two Kawasaki while Sylvain Guintoli cautiously overtakes Jonathan Rea six laps from the checkered flag !

A loop later, Baz pretends to shift under braking from the straight line but does not unleash his attack on Sykes. Melandri also delays his braking and departs generously without disturbing the two Kawasaki !

In the next lap, Loris carefully prepares his attack at the end of the straight line, passes in front of his teammate but in turn widens and is even passed by Melandri … Baz who was taking the tweezers against his teammate Kawasaki will have to exit the heavy artillery facing the Aprilia pilot !

Aprilia n ° 33 jumps in a fast curve and gives the "Number One" a few steps ahead. Loris Baz on the other hand momentarily loses contact and must attack – again! – to come back to Marco Melandri. In the last lap, the Italian launches a final braking attack at the end of the straight line…

The Ravenna Hedgehog crushes his right lever as far as possible, tries to contain the swaying of his RSV4 as well as possible but cannot dive into the turn. The two Kawasaki can then go for a third double this weekend in Aragon after the first in Superpole and the second in the first round. !

The Ninjas are also at the top of the provisional ranking: Tom Sykes has 75 points and Loris Baz 71. Sylvain Guintoli, fourth in this second round behind his teammate Melandri, is third overall with 64 points.
