New 2006: Honda Hornet 1000

That stings

The recipe is simple: naked supersport technology garnished with a dash of retro look, and the big Honda Hornet for 2006 is ready.

Admittedly, with 109 hp, the current Hornet is not underpowered for a naked bike. But since it has been rolling on our streets more or less unchanged for almost four years and especially the Italian and English competition with their strong and cheeky styles
Three cylinders à la Benelli TnT 1130 and
Triumph Speed Triple raises the bar more and more, speculations about a successor with more power and fresh make-up positively force themselves. To-
times one with a lifted Kawasaki
Z 1000 would forestall.
Whether the new Hornet, which then with
the full liter displacement, but enriched the German market in 2006, has not yet been officially confirmed. On the contrary, the German Honda agency steadfastly defends itself against such rumors, but the Americans, British and French are firmly counting on the new Hornet model for next year.
Suitable components for a tightened Hornet 1000 are found quickly. What’s more, you are spoiled for choice. In addition to a broken-down double X engine, it would be possible to reach into the super sports rack where the current heart of the Fireblade is waiting to be transplanted. A reduction in peak power to 130 to 140 hp
in favor of a fuller torque curve would fit perfectly with the character of a naked bike.
Additional accessories from the super athletes could provide the visual appeal. If so, then right. That means,
the Fireblade unit would retain its stylish rear silencer, which was laid under the seat, while the entire rear including the taillight would also be taken over. Chrome-plated mirrors, fittings and lamp ring provide a slight retro touch in the high-tech environment.
Opinions about the necessity of an upside-down fork on a naked bike are divided, but the attractiveness of a more aggressively styled and strengthened Hornet, a hybrid of super athlete and naked bike, is beyond question. Equipped with ABS, it would probably outperform one or the other opponent and fulfill some of the heart’s desires of current Hornet drivers. So Honda: please pull it out of the drawer and bring it.
