It’s nice when you can sell a new sports model to the public with a win. This is exactly what KTM succeeded in doing with the 950 Enduro on the Erzberg in the two-cylinder class, albeit very narrowly.

When two people argue, the third is happy. In this case the audience, who at the Erzberg two-cylinder race (see page 6) saw a heated battle between the BMW and KTM works teams. The fact that BMW and KTM compete against each other in the dusty business is nothing new: for years the two manufacturers had argued for victories in desert rallies. Now an entertaining duel in the enduro area is developing.
KTM brought as an opponent for the Munch-
ner HP2 two prototypes of the new
950 Enduro at the start, the one at the beginning
in the coming season (for drawing see MOTORRAD 10/2005). The basis of the factory racer is the previous 950 Adventure, which was trimmed towards off-road athletes with a small tank and a tight lamp mask. 950 cm3 and carburettors around 100 hp. When it comes to the other key data, BMW and KTM are also pretty close. A weight of around 195 kilograms and suspension elements with a stroke of 265 millimeters ensure sporty off-road qualities. The tank and seat should be narrower in the Enduro than in the Adventure and Supermoto in order to improve freedom of movement in the terrain.

the 950 Adventure, which has been offered since 2003, has been thoroughly revised. Next to one
The travel enduro receives a design lifting
Injection of the Superduke and an increase in displacement to 990 cm3. The displacement bonus should benefit less power than torque. The most interesting feature is likely to be a Brembo anti-lock braking system.
The new competition models will be available in a few weeks.
