Suzuki SV650X 2018: presentation of the little Cafe Racer
The new Suzuki SV650X, a Cafe Racer version of the twin-cylinder roadster unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show a few days ago, has landed in Europe: the 2018 novelties currently on display at the Eicma show in Milan (Italy) will soon be exhibited in France in Suzuki dealerships.. Presentation.
Two years after offering a "Rally Concept" of its SV650 – on the occasion of the 32nd Osaka Motorcycle Show (Japan) -, Suzuki took advantage of the 45th Tokyo Motor Show to launch the final version of its Cafe Racer: the SV650X. It is exhibited as planned at the 75th Eicma fair in Milan !
On this "novelty" 2018, the distinctive gray and black windshield is extended behind the fork – which inherits in passing a preload adjustment – by a tiny fairing on which is inscribed in black the name of the original SV650 model, and in red the suffix "X" … Grrr.
Bracelet handlebars are logically adopted by this new Suz ‘model, as is a two-tone saddle: black padded under the rider’s buttocks, smooth and gray under those of the passenger. On the other hand, the SV650X keeps the original roadster pot.
This choice is all the more surprising given that the "Cafe Racer" offered last year by the Suzuki France subsidiary was equipped with a nice double outlet silencer … The Japanese obviously did not ask their French colleagues for the reference. , and it’s a shame !
Like the engine and the rest of the chassis, the tank is unchanged. Its capacity estimated by the manufacturer is nevertheless on the rise: 14.5 liters on the new "X version" of the SV650, against 13.8 liters according to the technical sheet of the original model on the official website.
In either case, it is enough to feed the V-Twin which is as punchy as it is sober: less than 4 l / 100 km according to WTMC standards in rigor … or 4.7 l / 100 km from our previous one, his cousin Akashi !
The "new" SV650X will be available in Suzuki dealerships at a price still unknown in a single biton color: Black "Glass Sparkle" and Gray "Metallic Oort".
