Yamaha Vmax comeback
Power bike back on sale in the US
The Vmax has long since disappeared from the European model range, in the USA Yamaha is bringing back the power bike for the 2020 model year.
With the announcement of the lineup for the 2020 model year, Yamaha USA made many fans happy – the legendary Vmax is again part of the offer. For many, the Vmax, launched in 1985, is the epitome of the power cruiser. For the 2009 model year, the Japanese brought a completely new version onto the market. The displacement of the V4 rose from 1.2 to just under 1.7 liters, the output peaked at a whopping 200 hp, and the maximum torque climbed to 167 Nm. The Vmax was gradually sorted out on various markets.
Vmax only in black
In the USA at least it is now celebrating its comeback – sorted into the area of Sport Heritage models. The 2020 model year is completely black. Fork, rims, add-on parts, exhaust – black color is all the rage. The new Vmax will be available in the US from October starting at around 18,000 dollars (around 16,300 euros).

The well-known 1.679 cm³ V4 engine with five-speed gearbox remains. There is an 18 inch wheel with 120/70 tires between the fork legs of the 52 mm telescopic fork. The front is decelerated by Brembo six-piston calipers and a 320 double disc. At the rear, a 200/50 tire on an 18-inch wheel is vying for traction. There is no support from electronic control systems. ABS is the only feature here.
The Americans do not mention driving and engine performance data. The 2020 vintage should still have well over 170 hp.
