Yard-built project by Yamaha-Klein

Yamaha-Klein converted an XSR 700 as part of the Yard-Built project. The so-called Yamaha XSR 700 Bantam Racer will start at this year’s Wheels and Waves in Biarritz in the Punk’s Peak race.

With the Yamaha XSR 700 Bantam Racer would like to combine the latest technology and classic design with each other. It is one of six yard-built projects made in Europe that will be presented at Wheels and Waves 2018 in Biarritz (June 14th to 17th). To get it going for the popular motorcycle festival in the south of France, Dominik Klein had to use a lot of new components.

XSR 700 easy to convert

Dominik Klein did not make any significant changes to the engine or frame. For this purpose, some high-quality components were used elsewhere: The upside-down fork comes from the Yamaha YZF-R1, for example. For the rear suspension elements, the tuner opted for components from K-Tech, the wheels come from OZ-Racing, and for the tires, they opted for W01 rain tires from Bridgestone. Otherwise included are 3D clip-on handlebars from BKG, relocated footrests, a radiator cladding from the Yamaha original accessories range, a hump from our own production and headlights from JW Speaker, which can be found in a specially made housing. With the help of components from Magura Hymec, the clutch was also modified, which can now be operated hydraulically.

The Yamaha XSR 700 Bantam Racer will be on display at Wheels and Waves 2018 in Biarritz.

By the way, Dominik Klein opted for the Yamaha XSR 700 because, in his opinion, it is relatively easy to convert: "The XSR is very easy to convert individually and offers almost unlimited possibilities for creating a really personal and unique bike. In addition, even in the production version, it offers incomparable driving pleasure. All work carried out by us and the components can be selected modularly, so every customer can realize his dream bike step by step."

Incidentally, the Yamaha XSR 700 Bantam Racer is not the first yard-built project from Yamaha-Klein. In 2015 the authorized dealer from Dillingen (Saar) won the yard-built competition with a converted XJR 1300.
