Attractive equipment and prices: SIMA "Mash" in a good way !

Designed around the 397 cc air-cooled single cylinder discovered on the, the Adventure 400R benefits like its "big sister" from a specific injection. Slightly more powerful (29 hp instead of 27) but with identical torque (29.9 Nm), this unit evokes the Honda monos of the 70s / 80s, especially at the cylinder head.

The set, both aesthetically and technically, refers above all to the Kougar 400R (see assembly above), a Chinese motorcycle manufactured by the important manufacturer, based in the huge and very active municipality of Chongqing (southwest from China).

This resemblance owes nothing to chance, since the Mash Five Hundred and the Adventure 400R derive closely from the Shineray Chungking 400 and Kougar 400R, revised and improved by SIMA which dictates its own specifications to the Chinese manufacturer in order to improve reliability, finish and performance (replacement of the carburetor with a Siemens injection, in particular).

The steel frame of the Adventure 400R appears reinforced compared to that of the Five Hundred, whether at the level of the side pillars but above all of the swingarm seemingly oversized given the performance and weight announced (151 kg dry).

Another reason for satisfaction: the trail Mash’s 43 mm fork and its Fast Ace mono-shock are fully adjustable (preload, rebound and compression).

Even if the effectiveness of these Taiwanese large-travel suspensions (210 mm at the front, 200 at the rear) remains to be validated during a test, on paper it is frankly attractive at this price level (5490 €) !

But the Adventure 400R does not stop there and also has elegant petal brake discs (280 mm at the front and 220 at the rear), an aluminum handlebar, a screen high tinted and a digital dashboard advertised as "multifunction".

The icing on the cake, this little trail is equipped as standard with "Touratech" style aluminum cases with a capacity of 70 liters! All-terrain excursions are also on the program since the Adventure 400R receives hand guards, an engine guard and notched footrests..

Add to all this an overall successful pencil stroke – especially at the level of its two silencers integrated into the rear shell – and you have a new bike that makes you want to be discovered in detail as soon as it arrives in May 2015. ! 

Because at a time when the trail segment is drifting towards "always more" (more powerful, more sophisticated, heavier, more expensive), this Mash Adventure 400R could land in a modern version – and in a "Sino-Burgundy" sauce – the cult Yamaha XT500 !
