Piaggio innovates with the Beverly Sport Touring 350 scooter
After revolutionizing urban mobility with its famous MP3s (read in particular our MP3 Yourban 300 LT Test), Piaggio demonstrates that its desire to innovate has remained intact by launching the Beverly Sport Touring 350, a large-wheeled scooter powered by a single-cylinder of 350 cc ultra-efficient and which especially embeds a …
After having revolutionized urban mobility with its famous MP3s (read in particular our), Piaggio shows that its desire to innovate has remained intact by launching the Beverly Sport Touring 350, a large-wheel scooter powered by a high-performance 350 cc single-cylinder and which especially embeds an unprecedented anti-skating !
The weight of a 250, the performance of a 400 cc !
Barely heavier than a 250 cc scooter (177 kg in running order against 168 kg for an XEvo 250 for example) and almost as efficient as a 400 cc (33.3 hp against 34 hp for the XEvo 400) , the Beverly Sport Touring 350 complements Piaggio’s acclaimed Beverly range (310,000 sales since 2001 according to the Italian group).
If we find lines similar to those of the other Beverly, the same type of peripherals (front-rear single-disc, telescopic fork and double shock absorbers) and 16-inch (front) and 14 "(rear) wheels, the Beverly Sport Touring 350 is however quite clearly distinguished from its "brothers" on the technical level..
Piaggio has indeed designed a brand new 330 cc four-stroke unit with liquid cooling which develops the tidy power of 33.3 hp and a torque of 32.3 Nm to equip the latest of its large-wheeled scooters..
Similarly, the continuously variable transmission (CVT) of the Beverly Sport Touring 350 has been completely redesigned by the transalpines who claim to have gained no less than 10 kg on this single part. !
Beyond these enviable performances, the Italian mono would also be particularly quiet, sober (3.33 l / 100 km according to the manufacturer) and mechanically reliable: an oil change every 10,000 km and a "big" service every 20,000 km are to be expected according to Piaggio, who insists on the economic aspect of these distant intervals.
ABS, ASR: when will the RSV4 Launch Control be? ?!
Equipped as standard with combined braking, the Beverly Sport Touring 350 can be optionally fitted with a pack called "ABS / ASR": for the very first time on a scooter, Piaggio thus offers to combine the benefits of anti-lock braking. when braking with that of an anti-skid system (ASR) !
Operating thanks to the toothed wheels which serve to inform the ABS, this disconnectable traction control on the handlebars reduces the power of the mono by 330 cc when it detects a difference in rotational speed between the front and the rear: a device that is just beginning to popularize on Hypersportive motorcycles, as !
Until Piaggio (who owns Aprilia) decides to help commuters achieve the "holeshot" at red lights by adapting the starting assistance system discovered on Noale’s Superbike to a scooter, it doesn’t there may be a step !
Innovative and powerful, the Beverly Sport Touring 350 scooter does not forget to be practical: its illuminated trunk can accommodate two semi-jet helmets or a full face and a few things, which is not given to all large scooters. wheels … Similarly, the presence of a small windshield, a luggage rack incorporating the passenger handles, a central stand, a glove box and a hook used to secure a bag will certainly be appreciated on a daily basis.
Available in silver, black, blue, red or white, the Beverly Sport Touring 350 scooter will be unveiled at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan (at the same time as the), where the Italian manufacturer will communicate its price and availability within .
