The Bosch display, which is also used in other vehicles, is as simple as it is functional. But connectivity is a nuisance.

First ride on the electric scooter

Thanks to its playful handling, the Peugeot E-Ludix lives up to its name, as it stands as a modification of the Latin “ludere” for play. First ride on the electric scooter.

Ludix looks familiar to you? The city hopper from, especially popular in France PA good 230,000 copies of the eugeot were sold worldwide by 2011 – as a combustion engine or, as it has recently been called, with a thermal drive. The two-wheeler division of Peugeot, which has meanwhile been completely sold to the Indian Mahindra Group, wants to take advantage of this popularity and is now bringing the light large-scale scooter as an electrician. And, to say it right from the start, Peugeot’s new offer for city traffic should also come onto the market as a more powerful version in the 125cc class this autumn. In view of the new access regulations, this is certainly a promising decision and in most cases the only interesting option for people with a motorcycle license.

Weight of only 88 kilograms

Using an existing platform has various advantages, in addition to its popularity of course also in terms of development costs, but also in terms of the supply of spare parts. The chassis, add-on parts and body largely correspond to the Ludix without E., which still drives around tens of thousands of times. The E-Ludix was developed and electrified at Mahindra in India, and it is also built there. This enables a price that can keep up with many products from China, even though the motor, battery, control unit, LC display and 12-volt converter are European components from Bosch. And although the quality made a good impression both visually and haptically at a first encounter. The little one offers a comfortable seating position – even for taller people. With restrictions also for the pillion passenger, as long as both passengers are not too big, because the bench is quite short. Positive: the fold-out pillion footrests. This makes it easy to cover the usual short distances.

Peugeot

The E-Ludix is available for just under 3,500 euros.

As long as the passenger holds on tightly. You should be prepared for how the scooter, which weighs only 88 kilograms with a battery, starts in “Boost” mode. The seamless but easily controllable acceleration of the five-phase electric motor should be enough to win most of the traffic light sprints. It is easy to imagine that this sprint will only end at 85 km / h. The driving stability should certainly be sufficient for this, because the large but narrow 14-inch wheels convey confidence. The scooter is as light as a feather to handle, but it is alien to any wobbling.

A full charge takes five hours

Three real driving modes are available: Go, Cruise and Boost. The E-Ludix reaches its top speed in all of them, it just takes a different amount of time. And, of course, in “Boost” it throws up the most electricity when you turn it up, which is also the most fun. The targeted 50 km range could be achieved in city traffic. With almost half full battery, he still offered 26 kilometers in go mode. And only shortly before the battery is empty do you feel a more restrained power output. Even a range of almost 30 kilometers in wild brawl in the “Boost” mode on an indoor go-cart track indicates that the range should probably fit in short-distance everyday life. We’ll find out more when the fast E-Ludix is available.

The battery is removable.

The battery can be charged in the vehicle or taken out and hooked up to the nearest Schuko socket. In both cases, the external charger is plugged in. Unfortunately, there is no space for this in the vehicle. A second battery costs 1,440 euros, an additional charger, e.g. for the office, costs 189 euros. A full charge takes five hours, 80 percent is reached in three hours. Intermediate charging does not damage the battery, on the contrary.

Conclusion

Peugeot has a lot of experience with electric scooters. In 1996, the Scoot’elec also roamed through Germany. Then came the E-Vivacity in 2011, a model that was also available with both gasoline and electric motors. With the third premium, the time could now be ripe for it, also because the price, which is 3,500 euros including ancillary costs, is right.
