A brake light on the helmet to improve visibility

R & amp; D - A brake light on the helmet to improve visibility -

To improve the visibility of motorcycles, an inventor has just developed an ingenious brake light system directly integrated into the back of the helmet. Wireless, it automatically turns into a hazard light in the event of a fall.

Biker for ten years (750 VFR) and young business creator, Philippe Nabet has just patented a concept that is both simple and original: a brake light integrated directly into the back of the helmet, wireless likely to interfere with the pilot or the passenger. The visual impact during braking is comparable to that obtained with the third brake light integrated on the rear windshield of cars in France since 1997.

The aim is to "enhance the visibility of motorcycles on the road by signaling braking better, especially in urban areas, and being better seen by other users when visibility is reduced (sunshine, night, rain, etc.)". In addition, during an accident, an impact detector transforms the brake light into a hazard light as soon as the pilot or passenger falls, in order to be able to locate them more quickly..

The invention has already been presented to Road Safety, the National Institute for Transport and Safety Research (INRETS) and the French Agency for Innovation (ANVAR), which declared themselves "keenly interested in this innovation in active safety".

The prototype is currently in the construction phase, and the additional cost compared to a normal helmet should remain affordable (around 250 FF). The entire device integrated into the helmet should also remain relatively light, since Philippe Nabet considers it to be "only about 100 g extra".

Philippe Nabet and his associates (an inventor and an industrial designer) are now seeking to make their system known to the general public and to manufacturers..
