Bol d’Or 2017: big victory for the Yamaha n ° 94 of the GMT !
David Checa, Niccolò Canepa and Mike Di Meglio on the Yamaha n ° 94 reigning world champion give Christophe Guyot’s team a superb start to the 2017/2018 season, with a clean and flawless victory at the New Bol d’Or laps ahead of BMW n ° 13 and Honda n ° 111 !
Many twists and turns have punctuated this weekend on the Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet, which was uncompromising with several favorites like la or la. The two Honda n ° 5 and n ° 111, which had long led the race, have for their part experienced, as has the who finished 7th at 13 laps…
Baston of anthology for the third step of the podium !
Sebastien Gimbert on Honda n ° 111 however manages to save the furniture in the very last minutes by climbing on the third step of the podium, after a fierce fight with the astonishing Lucy Glockner at the handlebars of BMW n ° 48 !
A superb fight for the third step of the podium indeed pitted the incredible German Lucy Glockner in the BMW n ° 48 against the French Sebastien Gimbert in the Honda n ° 111! Lucy brilliantly resists the assaults of Sebastien who glues her back into the winding, and manages to regain the advantage in the straights … Sebastien ends up passing but Lucy regains the advantage in the straight, before being overtaken again among the retarded … Superb !
GMT94 therefore pocketed a large victory with nine laps in advance, but Christophe Guyot’s team, carefully prepared, always played at the forefront and could legitimately aim for the top step of the podium, even without the vagaries of its competitors..
9 tiny tenths…
This first race of the 2017/2018 world endurance championship ended in a very good operation for the two private BMWs of Penz13 (Allessandro Polita, Danny Webb and Pete Biciste) and of Volpker NRT 48. Special mention to the S1000RR n ° 48 led by Max Neukirchner – who plays -, whose mixed crew of two men and a woman (Stefan Kerschaumer, Jahn Buhn and Lucy Glockner) finished superb fourth, 9 tiny tenths off the third step of the podium !
In Superstock, the Tati Team Beaujolais Racing imposes its Kawasaki n ° 4 (8th scratch) in front of the Kawasaki n ° 33 of Team 33 (9th) and Suzuki n ° 72 of the Junior Team (10th).
Finally, we salute the remarkable performance of the only 100% female team, the Girls Racing Team, whose Yamaha n ° 19 finished 19th at the finish in the hands of Amandine Creusot, Jolanda Van Westrenen and Muriel Simorre.
