Blata 125 BXM in the test
Foolproof, good-natured driving characteristics
Ob-La-Di, O-Blata … Na na na na, life goes on, the Beatles used to sing. Undoubtedly, life goes on. The test clarifies whether a 125 BMX will help.
In the schoolyard evaluation, which is not insignificant for potential customers, the Czech B.lata the angular nose in any case way ahead. The polished aluminum rims, a swing arm made of the same material as well as indicators and taillights with diode technology make an impression. But that’s not all: the front brake pump and caliper are designed using radial technology, and braided steel lines at the front and rear are used to transmit the brake pressure. The digital cockpit, which shows the speed in addition to the usual information and has a small trip computer ready, makes the eyes light up completely.
In addition, the driving operation pales a bit. The test vehicle gave the impression of a prototype: Oil ran out of the left fork leg, and gasoline ran out of the leaky, lockable fuel cap. In addition, the air-cooled two-valve engine was constantly choking due to unsuccessful carburetor tuning in partial load operation, and the six-speed gearbox shifted roughly. To do this, the engine hung itself in with a slightly vibrating powerful force at full load and accelerated the Czech to 105 km / h. With 3.4 liters of normal he was quite frugal. The stiff suspension provided clear feedback as well as foolproof, good-natured driving characteristics. If necessary, the two brake discs decelerated rapidly, whereby the front one wanted the crisp, clear pressure point of the rear one. The effect, on the other hand, was flawless. The wiring harness, on the other hand, was laid so sloppily that within a few kilometers a cable chafed through and caused total electrical failure several times. In addition, with continuous high beam operation, which is possible without any problems due to the indicator light that is barely visible during the day, the battery was sucked empty in just over an hour. In the absence of a Kickstarter, all that helped was pushing. The really annoying thing about the defects is that they don’t have to be with a little care during assembly and better supplier parts. If this is the standard condition, 3599 euros are a proud price, as the Blata can drive and brake as well as possible.
