EICMA 2019
The Italian manufacturer Energica is implementing its experience from the Grand Prix and in 2020 is bringing a new variant of each of its three models – all with more torque and greater range.
E.Mainly Ribelle, EsseEsse9 + and Ego + are the names of the three versions that will be launched in 2020. They have a new power unit with 21.5 kWh and join the previous models (Eva, EsseEsse9 and Ego) with 13.4 kWh. “This is the most powerful battery pack that is available in series electric motorcycles,” says Giampiero Testoni, head of technology at Energica. It was developed thanks to the experience that the Modena manufacturer is gaining in the new MotoE class in the Motorcycle Grand Prix. All riders start there on the Energica Superbike Ego Corsa.
230 kilometers of real range
The range of the new Energica should increase by a full 60 percent thanks to the reinforced battery pack. The manufacturer has calculated that it is 400 km in city traffic, 180 km on country roads and 230 km in the urban / rural mix. At the same time, the increase in energy provides more torque for the already powerful motorcycles, which are equipped with fine components: the classic naked bike EsseEsse9 + achieves 200 Nm, the athlete Ego + and the street fighter Eva Ribelle each achieve 215 Nm. Charging to 80% now works in 40 minutes on all three motorcycles with the FastCharge system. Incidentally, the higher battery capacity has no negative effects on weight, on the contrary: According to Energica, the new variants each weigh five percent less than the basic models.

While EsseEsse9 + and Ego + can only be recognized by their larger batteries, the Eva Ribelle also has a slightly modified, more aggressive design that is intended to emphasize the “Rebellin” suffix. Energica has not yet announced prices for the new models.
