Honda X-ADV model year 2021

More performance and more storage space

The Honda X-ADV will be fit for Euro 5 in model year 2021. The comprehensive model upgrade brings not only more performance but also many other updates.

The new Honda gets four more horsepower X-ADV in model year 2021, which would then be 59 hp at 6,750 rpm. But Honda also offers an A2-compliant version with 48 hp. Thanks to revised valve timing, the engine speed range has been extended by 600 rpm to 7,000 rpm. The maximum torque increases minimally from 68 to 69 Nm at 4,750 rpm. The shorter ratio of the first, second and third gears is supposed to ensure improved acceleration values, while the fourth, fifth and sixth gears have been ratified longer for relaxed cruising. In terms of consumption, it should remain at 3.6 liters per 100 kilometers. The fuel tank fits 13.2 liters, which gives us a potential range of 366 kilometers.

New engine 1.4 kilos lighter

The liquid-cooled parallel twin with a displacement of 745 cm³ is 1.4 kilograms lighter than its predecessor. This is because some of the components of the now Euro 5-compliant engine take on several tasks at the same time: The camshaft drives the water pump, while one of the balance shafts drives the oil pump. Two balance shafts also counteract vibrations due to the higher speed inertia, "without affecting the typical ‘throbbing’", so Honda. The "Throbbing" or "To pop" – also known as the Big Bang firing order – is caused by the irregular firing order of the engine with its 270 ° cranked crankshaft. Bore and stroke are 77 x 80 mm.

Four driving modes

Thanks to Ride-by-Wire – or Throttle by Wire, as Honda calls it (TBW) – the X-ADV now rolls up with five driving modes: In addition to Rain, Standard, Gravel and Sport, a freely configurable user mode is available. The throttle response, ABS, engine brake as well as dual clutch transmission and the three-stage traction control are then aligned depending on the selected mode. The latter can also be deactivated completely. The DCT either shifts automatically or listens to the shift commands given by the driver using the paddles on the handlebars.

Honda X-ADV 3 kilos lighter

The Honda X-ADV will be three kilos lighter for model year 2021, i.e. he weighs 236 kilos. The frame has been completely redesigned, the trim parts are sharper and more angular, the LED headlights now shine with daytime running lights and the seat has been reshaped so that the feet can reach the floor more easily (820 mm seat height). The rider of the Honda X-ADV sits upright on the 910 mm wide handlebar, and can adjust the windshield in five positions, low to high.

More storage space

According to Honda, the helmet compartment under the seat has grown by one liter to 22 liters and offers space for a full-face helmet. There is also a USB socket in the compartment under the seat. Moving the parking brake to the right side of the handlebar creates more space that can be used for a practical glove compartment. The TFT display of the new Honda X-ADV has the voice control function for smartphones, a hands-free system is required. The driver can carry the smart key in his pocket all the time. This not only controls the ignition, but also unlocks the fuel filler cap and seat as well as the optional Smart Top Case.

Chassis and brakes

In addition to handcuffs on the handlebars, engine protection and gravel driving mode, the X-ADV comes with long suspension travel: 153.5 mm at the front and 150 mm at the rear. The ground clearance is 165 mm. The 41 mm USD fork with cartridge system is supposed to ensure good handling in rough terrain. It has adjustable rebound and spring preload. The 17-inch front wheel and the 15-inch rear wheel are fitted with rustproof stainless steel spokes. The tires are 120/70 R17 at the front and 160/60 R15 at the rear. Two radially mounted four-piston brake calipers grip 296 mm discs and work with ABS.

New color for the X-ADV 2021

The Honda X-ADV will in future also be available in the new color Pearl Mud Gray. Matt Beta Silver Metallic and Graphite Black are still available. Honda has not yet given any information about the price of the new X-ADV 2021.
