Two-cylinder naked bike gets sharper

With the 790 Duke, KTM already has a hot potato in the fire when it comes to mid-range naked bikes. The upcoming R version, which we have now caught as Erlkonig, provides even more flavor.

KTM has had the new one since March 2018 7th90 Duke in the range. Their new LC8c two-cylinder delivers 105 hp and 86 Nm of torque and is a real guarantee of fun.

The R version gets Brembo stoppers for the front wheel.

The upcoming R version of the KTM 790 Duke, which our Erlkonigjager has now driven in front of the lens as a prototype, will probably offer even more fun. As usual with KTM, the upgrade will take place in the area of brakes and chassis. The Erlkonig clearly shows a new, radially hinged Brembo brake system that replaces the Bybre stoppers of the basic version and should provide even more braking power. As part of this, there is also a new master brake cylinder at the front and a new expansion tank.

Not recognizable, but still likely are higher quality spring elements from the front and rear of the WP shelf. We have also agreed on a new driver footrest system on the Erlkonig, which could possibly provide an even sportier seating position.

Price could be around 11,000 euros

In addition, the R version of the KTM 790 Duke could decorate one or the other carbon component. The stainless steel exhaust seems to remain untouched. Sooner or later KTM will probably offer an Akrapovic damper through its power parts.

The KTM 790 Duke R should celebrate its premiere at EICMA in autumn. In terms of price, the R should be around 11,000 euros.
