Tunnel athletes further improved
KTM sets the tone in the motocross world, no doubt about it. But Mattighofen is not resting on its laurels, but has improved the motocross models for the 2018 model year. The KTM 85 SX for juniors is new.
One is proud of KTM on the high-quality standard equipment of all motocross models from the KTM 50 SX to the 450 SX-F, which carries the slogan "Ready to race" underpin. Numerous race victories and world championship titles prove how ready KTM really is
New: KTM 85 SX
For 2018, the SX series was expanded to include the KTM 85 SX (large picture). It is aimed at juniors who want to earn their spurs in the smallest classes. Your engine is 690 grams lighter than that of the previous year’s model and offers higher performance and better drivability across the entire rev range, explains KTM. In addition, the KTM 85 SX has a lighter chassis with a revised chrome-molybdenum-steel frame from WP Performance Systems and a lighter rear frame. Brakes from Formula and an AER 43 fork from WP underline the sporty demands of the KTM 85 SX. The specially developed Xplor shock absorber with a progressive damping system, also by WP, offers excellent response, full adjustability and excellent protection against bottoming out.

KTM 250 SX-F (2018)
The larger models KTM 125 SX and KTM 150 SX now have new engine struts made of aluminum and a new ignition control unit, which is supposed to improve the starting behavior.
The four-stroke models KTM 250/350/450 SX-F are also equipped with consistently high-quality components that are leading in their respective class, according to KTM. This ranges from the extremely important electric starter system to the WP suspension to traction control, selectable engine characteristics and much more. Furthermore, the coordination of the WP AER 48 fork of all SX models has been revised for 2018. The frame is now factory orange, the plastic parts have new graphics.
The first 2018 KTM SX models will be available from KTM dealerships from May.
Joachim Sauer from the Product Marketing Offroad department comments on KTM’s new motocross class as follows: "The engineers of our research- & Development department in Mattighofen, Austria, have further refined the extremely successful SX series. With their orange frames in the factory look, the large models now look even sportier, while we have also thoroughly redesigned the small bikes for aspiring juniors and the stars of tomorrow. In particular, the extremely successful KTM 85 SX has been completely redesigned and now comes with a new chassis, a new engine and a new suspension, which makes it even better drivable for riders of all levels. As always, all bikes are Ready to Race, and we look forward to presenting the SX models of 2018 to the public soon."
