Very attractive look

The missing clone is by no means the only new thing about Moto Guzzi’s first Classic Enduro, as the exclusive first direct contact with her proves. Already at the Milan trade fair last November, it caused a stir, back then as a concept study, because it comes in the style of the good old 80s enduros. So with a comparatively narrow and extremely attractive look, with simple engine technology without a water or oil cooler and with a really uncomplicated look – as if it could master both the world tour and the casual ride into the terrain from a standing start.


Manufacturer

On February 6, 2019, production of the Moto Guzzi V85 TT started in Mandello del Lario. According to the manufacturer, over 8,000 people across Europe have already registered for a test drive (as of February 2019).

Compared to the concept bike, the name has changed a little, the model has been given the addition TT to the designation V85 – of course that does not stand for Tourist Trophy, but for “Tuttoterreno” in Italian, one of several names for “off-road”. Guzzi promised her 80 hp a year ago, and that’s exactly what the technicians have achieved through numerous modifications to the air-cooled 850 cc engine. The drive has so far only fired the in-house naked bike V9, but only generates 55 hp there.

Moto Guzzi V85 TT is said to have 80 hp

With this improved V2 engine, a brand new frame and many high-quality components, the V85 TT is convincing not only in theory, but also in practice. The chassis is able to cope with all road situations from fast straights to tight turns, the 80 hp are completely sufficient on the country road. You might only want more speed for turbo-fast motorway stages, but that is a purely German problem, because in all other European countries the speed limit on the motorway is a maximum of 130 km / h. 

A real hit

According to the first impression on 300 kilometers of country road, Moto Guzzi scored a real hit. The chassis is partially adjustable, the braking system is crisp but not toxic, modern electronics are available in the form of riding modes, but not used excessively. Details such as the case holder integrated in the rear frame give hope for well thought-out accessories. The GS could become a real competitor – if not the big 1200, then at least the 750 and 850, because unlike them, the Moto Guzzi has a maintenance-friendly cardan.
