Retested: Hyosung Naked 650 from MOTORRAD 10/04
Secondary air doesn’t get any good
The test run had the HYosung Naked 650 completed without complaint, while pushing a whopping 71 hp at 8900 and 64 Nm at 7300 revs. But then the lively V2 from Korea suddenly got in a bad mood. Slapped, annoyed with hard load changes and was pretty weak. In addition, the shock absorber that was dampened too tightly had lost all damping effect. The MOTORRAD testers feared worse and informed the Hyosung importer, at that time still the company HMZ. She picked up the motorcycle immediately. But because at the same time it handed over the Hyosung import to the company Motor Sport Accessoires, it remained unclear for a long time in the hustle and bustle of what the Naked 650 had suffered from. Now it’s out: an intake manifold had come loose and the engine was drawing in secondary air.
Repaired and with a new shock absorber, the 650 came back to MOTORRAD to complete the top test in issue 10. With a respectable result: She received 27 points more for performance, which is below the level of a Suzuki SV 650 from 2002 due to the sub-optimal gearbox, but doesn’t allow boredom. On top of that, there was a point for the improved price-performance ratio, so that the Naked 650 finished with 553 points. The new shock absorber worked exactly like the old one, however: damped too tightly. ras
