2017 MotoGP Aragon GP report and standings
Marc Marquez poses a serious option for the 2017 title by signing at the GP of Aragon a second consecutive victory after Misano. Honda official spared no effort to win ahead of Pedrosa and Lorenzo ahead of overseas tour in Japan. Despite his fracture, Rossi finished 5th in the wake of Viñales! Report, results and rankings.
The last race of the day in Aragon – the MotoGP – started under the same radiant sun as the previous ones (and), leaving memories of the morning fog that significantly changed the lineup far behind. In these ideal conditions (27 ° C in the air and 40 ° C on the track), the fight promises to be exciting between the favorites for the title, as Marquez and Dovizioso are tied on points with 16 lengths of ‘advance on Viñales !

In the stands, 70,500 spectators also closely follow the breathtaking performances of the dean of the MotoGP field: Valentino Rossi, 38, qualified third despite his right leg fractured in two places three weeks earlier! The Doctor – the object of insidious rumors about his injury … – lines up with a smile on the grid, despite doubts as to his ability to complete the 23 laps of the race with only the use of a pain-relieving pill…

As in Misano, Jorge Lorenzo created a sensation by immediately taking control of his Ducati. But this time, the Mallorcan remains on his wheels until the checkered flag and will even lead the dance for 16 laps: Forza "Jorgeuil"! Eight laps from the finish, the n ° 99 had to bend in the face of the onslaught of a Marc Marquez literally overexcited at home: the Honda official took all the risks to get back to the front, sometimes even leaving himself very scared. !

Marquez finally signs his second consecutive victory in Aragon after his success in the wet in Misano – his 5th of the season – after having demonstrated as in San Marino that he was ready to face the limits to win. What mentality and what panache! The defending champion, already winner in Aragon last year, crosses the finish line in front of his teammate Dani Pedrosa, author of a splendid second part of the race after a discreet start.
"I was too careful at the beginning to take the measurement of my medium tire", confides "Pedro". "Above all, I stayed behind Maverick for too long and lost too much time", he explains on arrival..
Vinales misses the boat … Honda hits the nail on the head !
Because indeed, the race of Maverick Viñales did not live up to the expectations placed on the third man in the standings. The Spaniard, qualified on pole, encountered difficulties early in the race, struggling to stay in the Top 5 as his injured teammate followed behind Lorenzo‘s Ducati in the lead !
"Mack" finally managed to improve the situation, but without really convincing: the n ° 25 stumbled against Valentino Rossi for a long time during his comeback, causing great fright for the Yamaha team following uncompromising passes between the two teammates … Tenacious, Rossi demonstrated by resisting him that he had not returned to Aragon to make up the figures, but to defend his title chances !

Maverick Viñales is ahead – fortunately! – his teammate on the finish line, but failed at the foot of the podium behind Marquez, Pedrosa and Lorenzo, author of his second podium on Ducati after that of Jerez. A worrying result for Viñales, who finished 4th in Misano in the rain and then in the same place in the dry in Aragon: not enough to crown the world crown….
2nd podium of the season for! Great breed Giorgio!

Fifth, Valentino Rossi wins hands down his daring and courageous challenge: the official Yamaha is only 5.8 seconds behind the winner, on a circuit he hardly appreciates in normal times. So imagine with a broken leg! That a champion of his caliber, arch-titled and holder of almost all Grand Prix records, take the risk of running only 23 days after a tibia-fibula fracture is simply astounding. !
What about this guy though – 5th place with a broken leg!
What a ride

The Doctor is ahead of the very consistent Aleix Espargaro on his official Aprilia, sixth at 6.9 seconds behind Marquez: good progress for the Noale brand, which signs one of its most beautiful races in the dry! Nice performance also of Alvaro Bautista, 8th on his private Desmosedici in the exhausts of Andrea Dovizioso’s factory Ducati !

The two Italian motorcycles precede the Yamaha Tech3 of Johann Zarco, author of a 9th place behind compared to his forecasts of Top 6. The French, at ease in the wet but struggling in the dry, could not transform his bet to leave with soft tires front-rear.
The n ° 5 finished ahead of the KTMs of Pol Espargaro and Mika Kallio, who honored his invitation with a nice 11th place on the bike he is developing. Bradley Smith, anonymous 19th, will inevitably reflect on the comparison, he who is titular on the Austrian RC16 … Same point of disappointment for Loris Baz, 21st on his .
The results of the GP of Aragon in the MotoGP championship
With his clear and flawless victory – but a few "heats"! -, Marc Marquez takes a more solid place at the helm of the championship: the HRC driver – who signs his 60th victory – now has a 16 point lead over Andrea Dovizioso and 28 over Maverick Viñales. Despite his participation in Aragon, Valentino Rossi cedes "his" 4th place to Dani Pedrosa for two small points.
His only major mistake of the day
– MotoGP (@MotoGP)
Note that Dani Pedrosa’s second place at Alcaniz does the business of Marquez (victim of a small fall while greeting his audience, above!), Just like Lorenzo’s third position: his two compatriots are not threatening at the championship and their results are all big points not scored by his direct rivals for the title !
