A Medusa in the Chevreuse valley: what is the new noise sensor for on the 17 turning road? ?
The new "Meduse" noise sensor installed in Saint-Forget (78), on the 17-turn road, well known to Parisian bikers in the Chevreuse valley, was presented yesterday by its main initiator, Yvelines MP Jean-Noël Barrot. Explanations.
"This noise sensor is intended to fight against noise pollution and will make it possible to obtain an acoustic photograph of the noise emitted by vehicles", explains the deputy Jean-Noël Barrot (Democratic Movement), author of an amendment "to fight against noise pollution "adopted by the National Assembly within the framework of the mobility orientation bill (LOM).
- MNC of February 16, 2018 :
Presented yesterday in Saint-Forget on the route des 17 tournants, in the presence of elected officials from the Chevreuse valley and the gendarmerie, is called "Meduse" because of its four microphones which pick up the surrounding noise "several times per second".
A mobile application supplied with the sensor makes it possible to "visualize the spatial distribution of noise at a given location during a given period", specifies the manufacturer..
2021, year of the Medusa ?
Meduse is therefore not yet capable of photographing vehicle plates … but patience: "at the end of a two-year experiment, we hope to be able to obtain the approval of anti-noise radars which will make it possible to sanction, and therefore to dissuade drivers of vehicles that are too noisy ", predicts Mr. Barrot.
The MP for Yvelines said he was in favor of "greater severity towards two-wheeled drivers who remove the mufflers from the muffler" and intends to introduce "acoustic radars to sanction the noise of excessively noisy vehicles". As confirmed by the mayor of Chevreuse, Meduse would be "a first step towards the on-the-fly verbalization of noise violations", eventually with a real noise radar capable of sanctioning drivers like a conventional radar.
