To welcome the bikers for the Bol d’Or 2015, this weekend on the Castellet circuit (83), the prefect of Var released two cases of his best champagne autonomous radars that will be specially installed for the occasion.
"More than 100,000 people are expected, including 25,000 motorcyclists," said Road Safety, announcing that "two autonomous radars will be positioned on the roads close to Castellet, in the Var, and moved regularly from Thursday 17 to Monday 21 September inclusive".
Naturally, the objective is not to trap the motorcyclists who ride by looking at the road rather than with their eyes riveted on their speedometer! On the contrary, it is a question of "guaranteeing the safety of all the users who will converge or will leave the place of the event", specifies the organization dependent on the Ministry of the Interior while the prefect of Var tweets live the installation of the machine !
These autonomous radars will be "systematically preceded by an announcement board", concludes Road Safety without however specifying the number of mobile radar checks – unreported – which will be carried out this weekend.
Welcome to the Var … and beware of these radars – which, as everyone knows, are !
