"A particularly unpopular layer of repressive measures"
It is in fact today the turn of the French Motorcycling Federation (FFM) to denounce the "rush of the government", accused by the sports body of "overreacting under the influence of emotion because of some figures which are punctually bad "and to" put back a layer of particularly unpopular repressive measures ".
"The figures for those who died on the road at the start of the year are not good, it’s a reality!", Admits the FFM, specifying that they should be tempered: "indeed, we compare them to the figures for early 2010 which, according to the Road Safety and Traffic Directorate, had been particularly good due in particular to the weather conditions at the time. In addition, recalls the FFM, "the figure for bodily accidents is down in April 2011 compared to last year".
"the figures for 2010 are the best for more than half a century"
"Can we therefore draw definitive conclusions? Certainly not!", Declares the Federation, recalling "that we are in a largely downward trend in the long term and that the figures for 2010 are the best obtained for more than ‘a half-century"…
As for the measures themselves, "the implementation of some of them leaves us perplexed", continues the FFM, noting "that a quarter of bad figures systematically leads to a hardening of the repression, while years of good results very rarely generate a homeopathic softening ".
