Recall Triumph Thruxton

Cladding can damage cables

Feeding through the half-shell cladding can damage the cables for the lights and indicators. Triumph recalls the relevant models and makes improvements.

Triumph has to call back 14,473 Thruxton motorcycles worldwide to check for possible damage to the wiring harness. If the “Cafe Racer” accessory half-shell has been installed on the Thruxton, the cables for lights and indicators are fed through two holes. These are probably designed with a cable bushing with a diameter that is too small, so that the cables can be damaged here. Triumph will check these cable entries and replace them with larger ones if necessary.

Only a third actually wear a disguise

In Germany, around 1,300 vehicles built between April 2016 and April 2019 are affected by this recall. As a precaution, Triumph is recalling all Thruxton models from this period, including those that were not equipped with the half-shell at the factory. This is documented by the dealer in the case of uncovered machines. If the machines are covered, the conversion takes just under two hours. Only around a third of the models are actually equipped with the half-shell.

The owners of the affected motorcycles will soon be contacted and asked to come to the workshop with their motorcycle.
