Supersport individual test: The Ninja 2010
Kawasaki ZX-10R
The Greens don’t have to keep reinventing the super sports motorcycle. That is why the ZX-10R will only be launched slightly modified for 2010.
Up until now, it was customary in the supersport industry to delight customers with completely new cannonballs every two years. The tactics were mostly the same: weight down, performance up. For the sporty thousands, however, these key data have stagnated for some time and are currently just over 200 kilograms and around 180 hp (exception: BMW S 1000 RR).

Kawasaki
The tens-10s differ only marginally from the zero-nines-10s. A case for connoisseurs.
Those responsible at Kawasaki may have had similar thoughts. Because one thing is clear: If you want to distinguish the ZX-10R model year 2010 from its predecessor, you need an eye for detail. The fairing has been completely redrawn, but is so similar to the previous year’s model that it can only be distinguished in a direct comparison. This also applies to the exhaust. Shape and volume are identical, there are only differences in the end cap design and surface. And so it is not surprising that the new one is exactly the same.
Bilski
New: simple exhaust end cap and matt instead of chrome-plated surface.
The test bench curves are practically congruent, the differences are within the scope of the measurement tolerance. And so the current expansion stage in the lower speed range goes to work very cautiously, in order to pull the chain all the more energetically when the green area on the tachometer is reached at 6000 revolutions. A quality that calls for a keen senses on the small and narrow mountain roads on which this test took place. But it fits in with the essence of the Kawasaki brand. The Greens always want to be a little angry, and so is the Ten. The decidedly sporty seating position gives you a good feeling for the front wheel.
Bilski
Also new: colorful side panels with more edges and fewer corners.
The brake, once brought up to temperature, shines with a clear pressure point, low manual force, good controllability and a powerful effect. The same goes for the chassis, which allows the line to be corrected at lightning speed if the ice sheets behind the bend, which are also present in southern France at this time of year, require it.
Ultimately, the question of price remains. As long as Kawasaki offers last year’s jackpot models for 11,995 euros, there is tough internal competition.
