Official end of the 100 horses: released, delivered !
This time, there it is! After looooong months of waiting (read our looooong Special Report 100 horses: end of the French exception), the issue of unlocking and returning to full power of motorcycles equipped with ABS (retrofit) is finally resolved, thanks to the signing by Segolène Royal of the decree
This time, there it is! After looooong months of waiting (read our looooong), the issue of unlocking and restoring full power to motorcycles equipped with ABS (retrofit) is finally settled, thanks to the signing by Segolène Royal of the decree published in today !
As of tomorrow Friday April 15, 2016, the date of entry into force of the decree, second-hand motorcycles equipped with ABS can therefore be legally unrestricted (or more exactly, returned to their original configuration), while new Euro3 motorcycles (still with ABS) developing more than 100 hp (73.6 kW) will finally be able to leave the concessions !
"Technical consistency"
Recalling that "European regulation No. 168/2013 applicable in the European Union on January 1, 2016 removes the possibility that a Member State can restrict the power of new motorcycles and in parallel oblige the installation of an anti-lock braking system of wheels for medium or high performance motorcycles ", the Ministry of the Environment explains that" technical consistency has led the French authorities to authorize the unlocking of new or used motorcycles (second hand, Editor’s note), equipped with a system anti-lock braking system (ABS) and comply with the provisions of European directives 92/61 / CE or 2002/24 / CE ", explains the relating to the power of motorcycles defined in article R. 311-1 of the French Code of the road.
Retrofit: Euro1 and Euro2 motorcycles with ABS too |
All motorcycles equipped with ABS, whatever their generation, are concerned by this "release". The clamping can therefore also jump on Euro1 and Euro2 motorcycles, provided they are equipped with anti-lock brakes..

In an admirable administrative-scientific gibberish, the text specifies that to be released, delivered (good OK we stop), the motorcycles currently restricted to 106 hp will have to be the subject of a "type approval called the approval of prototype ".
"A relief for bikers"
Concretely, "the manufacturer or its accredited representative (the concessionaire, Editor’s note) will request the approval of the prototype of any vehicle that can be transformed to the National Vehicle Reception Center (CNRV), to the regional and interdepartmental direction for the environment and energy from Ile-de-France "by providing" the vehicle information sheet before and after transformation, a copy of the European type-approval of the type of vehicle concerned, a notice indicating the transformations of the vehicle so that it becomes compliant to the type / variant or version having a conventional power to the wheel Pr greater than 73.6 kW, the instructions for unclamping the vehicles and the model of the transformation plate affixed to the vehicle ".
"It is a relief for the bikers and a victory for the FFMC which fights for years so that this bridle, French exception, is abandoned", immediately rejoiced the French Federation of angry motorcyclists, in fight on this dossier with the (FFM), the (CSIAM) and the (CNPA), without forgetting more recently a group of parliamentarians gathered within the .
