2020 Yamaha Tmax 560 test: king of the urban jungle !
With the motorcycle license and 14,000 euros in your pocket at a Yamaha dealership, you can opt for the exciting sporty YZF-R6, the villainous MT-10 roadster with 160 hp … or the new Tmax 560 in its luxurious Tech Max version ! MNC explains why choosing a scooter is far from crazy … even for a biker! Test.

Neat presentation. The Tmax 2020 enjoys very beautiful finishes to match its price. 4-piston radial calipers (golden on Tech Max), pretty aluminum protection at the exhaust manifold, qualitative upholstery, LED indicators better integrated in front: the Yamaha scooter presents well. |
Not so convenient. A USB connection would be more practical because it would be more universal than the 12V socket installed in the storage compartment, while backlit stems and a color screen would not be too much in this price range. ! |
Ergonomics. Like many maxi-scooters, the Tmax is very wide: the result is that a 1.75m rider puts one foot flat on one side but a point on the other. A bit tight to handle when stationary its 218 kg (220 for the Tech Max). The little ones will tend to find themselves sitting on the saddle opening and fuel door buttons on the front of the saddle.. |
Ergonomics bis. MNC also regrets the lack of length of the horizontal steps, on which size 43 boots barely find their place: the reverse of the increase in engine capacity? Its topstitched saddle, however, offers space and comfort, with correct lumbar support provided by the backrest. |
32 cc more. The biggest evolution of this Tmax 2020 is its passage from 530 to 562 cc via its bore increased from 68 to 70 mm (identical stroke to 73 mm). This gain of 32 cc allows the vertical twin to gain slightly in performance while fulfilling the conditions Euro5. |
More fishing. This improvement amounts to "+ 3.5%" in power and "+ 6%" in torque, or 47.6 hp and 55.7 Nm against 46 hp and 53 Nm in 2019. Tmax remains below the necessary threshold to be accessible to A2 permits. The belt transmission reduction is also changing to gain even more fishing. |
Less polluting. The 2020 Tmax gains “5 km / h top speed” according to Yamaha, while consuming “10%” less. MNC recorded 180 km / h peak on the odometer and 5.3 l / 100 km on the on-board computer, at high speed. |
Tech Max. This new Tmax 560 comes with a new top-of-the-range version "Tech Max", which incorporates the equipment of the old Tmax 530 DX: electrically adjustable screen, heated grips and saddle, regulator and adjustable rear suspension. |
Fatty ?! At 218 kg, the Tmax takes 5 kg with its 15 liters of gasoline! This increase is explained by the increase in displacement, the larger catalytic system (Euro5) and its enlarged radiator (+ 6%). Fortunately, the exhaust pipes are refined and that new forged pistons come to contain the overweight ! |
Premium. The Tmax 560 Tech Max shows off more luxurious finishes in its cockpit, along with gold rims and fork sleeves. This version is also "connected" with the "MyTMAX Connect" application which makes it possible in particular to locate the scooter by GPS – free for 12 months then 8 euros per month – and gives information on the battery level, etc.. |
