Shineray 125

China motorcycle from the Internet

What has happened so far: MOTORRAD bought a brand new 125cc Enduro, made in China, with the beautiful name Shineray, freely translated shining path (see MOTORRAD 6/2007) through a straw man on Ebay for a mere 511 euros. Now it is packed in a box in the workshop, the dimensions of which do not necessarily suggest a motorcycle as its contents. After removing the box, the curious eye first sees a steel transport pallet, which is definitely not suitable for establishing trust in the arts of the Chinese metalworking industry. But what can be seen behind tons of bubble wrap doesn’t look so bad at first glance. For the price of an inspection, we actually got a small 125cc with an air-cooled four-stroke engine with kick and electric starter, which is strongly reminiscent of a Honda single. Supplied with fuel by a carburetor, it should deliver 11.2 hp to the gearbox at 9000 rpm. With five courses it even has one more than announced, as will be shown later. During the first test run, the single cylinder started immediately, pleased with its very smooth mechanical running and an extremely quiet exhaust noise, at least when idling. There are also main and side stands and a tachometer.

Friends of exquisite workmanship should S.Stay away from hineray, because a closer look shows that quality also costs money in China. The plastic parts are all in the lowest category, their good fit is ultimately the result of the lack of stability. The bench is rock-hard and still sat through, and with the cable harness, only the massive use of cable ties prevents major adversity. Due to the lack of a fit, the taillight lamp can only be moved to its intended place by preventive use of adhesive tape. The bearings of the strut linkage are all free of grease, but by no means free of play.

The rear axle is guided through elongated holes in the swing arm. It has to be like this, keyword tensioning the chain. However, only Confucius knows why the slots are made for 20 mm axles when they are only twelve millimeters in diameter. The biggest faux pas so far has been the adapter sleeve on the front wheel that fixes the speedometer drive: the drive was squeezed by an incorrectly dimensioned collar. The front wheel could no longer be turned when the axle was pulled. After a little intervention with the lathe, the problem was solved. Finding number two: A well-stocked workshop helps with handling the China motorcycle.

With nothing but a certificate of conformity in raised capital letters, printed on both sides with important figures, values and data, as well as a customs declaration and the double insurance card in hand, the walk to the registration office is anxious. After all, we are living in the age of Euro 3, while our shining path would not have been noticed in the streetscape even in Ho Chi Minh’s time. But the lady behind the counter of the counter for special cases only skimmed the papers briefly, just wanted to know whether it was a motorcycle or a quad, and after a few minutes the dainty rear was adorned with a regular black license plate. You can read how the Shineray does in everyday life in the third part of »Billich? Willich! «, Probably in the next MOTORRAD. so called
