New system with height adjustment
With the EERA Heightflex chassis, the Japanese chassis specialist has presented a system that can automatically reduce the seat height when the vehicle is stationary.

Sometimes the legs are just too short, not for driving, but when you come to a standstill with the machine. Suspension specialist Showa wants to remedy this and has developed the EERA Heightflex chassis for this purpose.
Advantage for those with short legs
Height-adjustable trolleys are nothing really new in and of themselves. Even the old Suzuki DR350 had the option of hydraulically lowering the chassis and thus the seat height with the SHC system. Showa has taken the idea of the lowerable chassis further. The electronically controlled EERA Heightflex chassis not only offers automatic level control that adapts the chassis to the load condition, the chassis also thinks for itself and lowers itself automatically when the vehicle is stationary. This means that a lot of ground clearance can be used while driving, and the advantage of a reduced seat height comes into play when the vehicle is stationary.
No additional pump necessary
The hydraulically controlled system works without an additional pump. The expansion tanks serve as pressure accumulators. The lack of a pump makes the system more compact and lighter. The lowered position is reached about one second before the vehicle comes to a standstill. The elevated position is restored after a few 100 meters of travel.
Showa did not provide any information about a possible series use. For demonstration purposes, the system was installed in a Honda Africa Twin at EICMA. We believe the system will soon appear in the first major travel enduro bikes.
