Smoked Garage Kawasaki Twister (2018)
Custom bike based on Z 650
The bustling custom bike manufacturer Smoked Garage from Indonesia has built a bike in the style of a tracker based on a Kawasaki Z 650. The converted twin goes by the name of Twister.
Anyone who likes scrambler and tracker models should love the Twister from the Indonesian customizer Smoked Garage. One served as the basis for the conversion Kawasaki Z 650. That had to give way, however.
Balloon tires for a fat look
First, the little ninja was stripped except for the frame and engine. The series wheels were also thrown out and replaced by wire spoke wheels with self-made hubs. A 5-inch wide 14-inch rim, fitted with a 180/80 tire, turns at the rear from now on. At the front, the Twister has an 18-inch wheel fitted with a 130/80 tire. The rough tread is contributed by Dunlop K180 tires – original equipment tires for the Suzuki RV125 VanVan.

The standard swing arm had to give way to a tubular steel swing arm with a banana profile. The shortened rear has a new fender, which like all the other trim parts and the tank was hand-stamped from aluminum. A round retro taillight sits on it. The driver sits enthroned on a short, lengthways quilted leather bench and grabs the Twister by a wide tubular handlebar. The cockpit remained as standard, the twin headlights in the aluminum mask are homemade.
High exhaust system
In order to perfect the off-road look, the manifolds now wind around the twin on the left and open into a raised rear silencer next to the rear. The new manifold guide creates space for a massive engine protection pan made of hand-operated aluminum. The standard fork has been replaced by a gold-colored Showa upside-down counterpart, which now carries the brake calipers attached radially.
The 68 hp 649 cm³ two-cylinder of the Kawasaki Z 650 remained untouched.
