Two young people discovering South America … in 125 !
Two young students in a gap year are preparing to cross Latin America … in 125! Argentina, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay: 20,000 km in six months, to be monitored every week on Site. First episode: Buenos Aires.
Pierre-Emmanuel and Hubert, two young business school students currently in a "gap year" – a term which, according to our information, corresponds more or less to what we called in our time a "sabbatical year"! -, will make us live their crossing of Latin America … in 125 !
Argentina, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay: a total of 20,000 km to be covered in six months with the help of their partners, and, the report of which is to be followed every week on the Site. On the menu for this first episode in Buenos Aires (Argentina): t-shirts, sunburns, paperwork and … purchase of two motorcycles !
January 8, 2009, 11:10 p.m. – Paris Charles-de-Gaulle Airport (FR).
Baggage check-in, last kisses and goodbye to friends and relatives, customs clearance, waiting for boarding, take-off … and let’s go for the Bornes in America adventure !
We are therefore two 23-year-old French students, in the last year of business school in Lille. We have set up a project called "Bornes In America" whose objective is to travel 20,000 km in South America (Argentina, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay) in six months, which represents a large loop from from Buenos Aires.
Our means of locomotion? Two Yamaha YBR 125 cc that we are going to buy new in Buenos Aires. Both simple and reliable, they will be our companions to make our dream come true. !
Pierre-Emmanuel dit "PE", a little brown haired boy from Paris, is not on his first adventure, after several months in Madagascar and crossing Europe in a Fiat Polski. Hubert alias "Beru", tall blond from the Paris region, has done Royan – Biarritz by bike in particular and dreams of adventures and escape…
On the program: the Argentinian Pampas, Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego with Ushuaia, the Carretera Austral, the Pan-American, the 7 lakes region, the Atacama desert, the Chilean Andes, Machu Pichu, Lake Titicaca, the Foz of Iguaçu and the Uruguayan coast…
Personal challenge and unique human adventure, this project is the fulfillment of a dream and will be an opportunity for us to take time to discover, marvel, meet people, discuss and take a step back on our way of operating…
January 12, 2009, 11:20 a.m., Buenos Aires (ARG).
That’s it, we’ve arrived! Radical change in climate: the temperature here is around 35 ° C … Forget the mittens and hats: here it’s t-shirt and sunburn in the land of tango and gauchos !
However, before hitting the road and getting on our motorcycles towards the pampas, we need to complete a number of administrative formalities in Buenos Aires: pass the 125 cc Argentine driving license (theory and practice), buy the motorcycles, find a domiciliation, a tax certificate … and all this in Spanish and in a minimum of time, knowing that the Argentine administration has the reputation of being quite long…
We therefore give you an appointment every week on the Site to tell you about our adventures, our adventures, our struggles, our anecdotes and our meetings … see you next week !
