Suzuki scrambler

MOTORRAD readers build their dream motorcycle

And it does exist: Some MOTORRAD readers reacted to the MOTORRAD study Suzuki 750 Scrambler MK II (MOTORRAD 7/2017) with evidence from their own vehicle fleet. Hello Japan, that’s what Suzuki fans want!

C.Chief editor Michael Pfeiffer lamented the lack of a Suzuki scrambler.

Artist Stefan Kraft demonstrated with a wonderful illustration what such a retro single could look like today: like the MOTORRAD study Suzuki 750 Scrambler MK II. A puristic desert racer based on the largest single-cylinder ever offered in series motorcycle construction, the legendary DR Big.

That apparently hit a nerve with the Suzuki fans, in several emails to the editors they formulated approval and underlined the demand that Suzuki should please build such a motorcycle.

Maier

Why wait for Suzuki to build a scrambler? Harald Maier himself worked on a DR 650 SE.

Still others made it clear that they didn’t want to wait that long. Harald Maier from Steinach, for example. He has long since taken action himself and built his dream Suzuki based on a DR 650 SE from 1998.

Scheffler

Who would have recognized the Suzuki Freewind in Christoph Scheffler’s puristic scrambler?

Or Christoph Scheffler from Schworstadt, who relieved a Freewind of all its plastic and converted it into a puristic scrambler with a metallic appearance.

Wurtz

Gerhard Wurtz’s idea of a Suzuki-based scrambler.

Or Gerhard Wurtz from Witten, whose timelessly beautifully designed DR Big 800 with its classic drop tank comes closest to the design by Stefan Kraft.
